Login to your McGill Workday account and apply to this posting using the Find Jobs report (type Find Jobs in the search bar).Reporting to: Dr. Carolyn SamuelHiring unit: Teaching and Learning ServicesHourly rate: Master\xe2\x80\x99s student - $20/h; PhD student - $23/h + 4% vacation indemnityTeaching and Learning Services (TLS) is seeking candidates for a graduate student position related to teaching and learning in higher education to assist with instructor support programming (e.g., workshops, learning exchanges, resource development, and communications) and work on a variety of projects in support of related initiatives at McGill. This position is open to Master\xe2\x80\x99s and Doctoral students who are interested in developing their knowledge of and skills in teaching and learning in higher education. The successful applicant will contribute to a range of activities planned and implemented by a team of educational developers and other professional staff at TLS.This position is for approximately 10 hours per week, starting September 16, 2024 and ending May 31, 2025.Job summary: As the position is to support a variety of projects, specific roles and duties will vary depending on the project requirements. Generally, the graduate student assistant will provide support for activities such as:

  • developing and implementing teaching support activities (e.g., workshops; learning exchanges);
  • developing/implementing/updating program/support materials (e.g., resource documents);
  • communicating with various stakeholders (e.g., facilitators, participants);
  • doing literature reviews and environmental scans;
  • summarizing information used for planning and evaluation;
  • preparing project documents and reports;
  • developing and implementing data gathering instruments (e.g., interviews, surveys);
  • supporting promotion activities related to instructor programming (e.g., formatting email bulletins or web content, drafting blog or social media posts, creating graphics or taking photos).
Skills/abilities required
  • Excellent information literacy skills (i.e., ability to define research terms; search online databases, journals, websites; prepare annotated bibliographies; and critically evaluate resources)
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Collaboration/teamwork and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in a PC environment using word processing and spreadsheet applications
Assets
  • Experience using the Microsoft Office suite (e.g., Forms, Lists)
  • Experience writing blog posts and other texts
  • Ability to understand/use basic HTML
  • Ability to create social media content (e.g., X, LinkedIn)
  • Experience using a website content management system (e.g., Drupal, WordPress)
  • Experience using email marketing tools (e.g., Envoke)
  • Experience with graphic design software (e.g., Canva), knowledge of basic design principles
  • Photography and/or videography skills
  • Knowledge of the American Psychological Association (APA) Publication Manual (7th ed.)
  • Reading comprehension in French
