Student Assistant, Events and Communications
The Canadian Centre for the Study of Co-operatives (CCSC) invites applications for the position of Student Assistant, Events and Communications. The CCSC is Canada's leading hub for research and education about co-operatives.
The CCSC has an extremely busy schedule of planned events over the coming months. In the March-April period, the CCSC will be working closely with the Communities and Sustainability Signature Area to plan for a signature area retreat, workshop, and a series of a talks by a visiting scholar.
Separately, the CCSC is working closely with the Diefenbaker Canada Centre around an exhibit to celebrate the International Year of the Co-operative (2025) and has a busy schedule of planned Co-op Conversation monthly events. The CCSC is also working to archive physical collections of co-operative sector material. The position may also entail some research duties if the candidate shows promise.
The ideal candidate is self-motivated, accountable, likes working with people, has a strong sense of right and wrong, and is a hard worker who cares about the co-operative sector. If this is not you, do not apply please.
The Student Assistant's general duties and responsibilities will be:

  • Helping to develop event communications and engagement strategies;
  • Preparing related marketing material, including social media posts;
  • Monitoring and responding to inquiries and comments (e.g., email, social media, etc.);
  • Coordinating with University of Saskatchewan and co-operative sector and community partners and collaborators;
  • Assisting with event and online content moderation;
  • Assisting with room bookings, set-up, take-down;
  • Liaising with the Diefenbaker Canada Centre, USask Art Galleries, and other project collaborators;
  • Coordinating with University of Saskatchewan Library and Archives; and
  • Other duties as required.
The general location of work will be in the Diefenbaker Building. The Student Assistant will report to Natalie Kallio, Professional Research Associate, CCSC.
Required Number of Hours: Casual (up to 20 hours per week)
Duration of Employment: Immediately up to December 31, 2025 (with a possibility of extension)
Qualifications (Skills and Abilities)
Education: Completion of a bachelor's degree, preferably in humanities or social sciences, or a more advanced designation. Current enrollment in a University of Saskatchewan graduate program is required.
Experience: Experience compiling and analyzing quantitative data is required. Experience engaging with public servants and nonprofit employees is an asset.

  • Knowledge and passion for co-operative sector a strong plus
