Job Duties
1. Work co-operatively in an interdependent team environment to assess individual student learning needs, coach for academic success and summarize current strengths, areas to improve in and provide recommendations for further testing/support.
2. Provide instruction in basic mathematics, reading, spelling, and writing components of the Adult 10/Adult 12 Refresher programs, including LifeWorks and keyboarding.
3. Maintain records of achievement, attendance and other student-related information and report such information as required.
4. Provide appropriate evaluation, assessment and feedback to students.
5. Identify, be reflective of and responsive to accommodations of special learning needs including equity groups and diverse learners.
6. Manage the classroom to ensure an optimum learning experience.
7. Practice good interpersonal and communication skills.
8. Plan and deliver learning activities that reflect the values, beliefs, needs and contributions of a culturally diverse community.
9. Be flexible and responsive to learner needs through the use of appropriate instructional methodologies.
10. Respond to curriculum/course demands and make necessary adjustments according to learner needs.
11. Identify resources and equipment appropriate to support curriculum/course implementation.
12. Assist students in areas of personal, academic and career development.
13. Engage students in learning activities designed to strengthen ties to work and/or career development
14. Pursue professional development opportunities to keep current with employer and educational requirements.
15. Follow regulations and policies adopted by Saskatchewan Polytechnic.
16. Where required, develop working relationships with appropriate external partners and employers, supporting students in work experience.


QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND EXPERIENCE

Required Qualifications, Skills and Abilities (QSA)
1. Bachelor of Education degree with emphasis in Special Education, Adult Education or Educational Psychology.
2. Valid Saskatchewan Teaching Certificate.
3. Cross-cultural training and/or evidence of cross-cultural experience.
4. Effective communication skills.
5. Effective interpersonal skills.
6. Effective instructional ability.
7. Ability to work with individuals with special learning needs.
8. Demonstrates valuing diversity.
