We will examine staffing and leadership across our organization, so we have the people and the right organizational structure in place to provide the best care and services for our growing patient population.Through a Corporate Master Plan launching soon, we will focus on Our Places. We will take stock of our buildings and properties across all sites to develop a roadmap to serve our growing population, including through expansion, redevelopment, and partnerships.Reporting to the Chief Communications Officer and VP, Strategy & Partnerships, this new strategic advisory role will lead community and partner engagement and advocacy on behalf of the entire organization to enable the achievement of the bold initiatives that underpin the One Halton Healthcare vision.Community Engagement

  • Leads the development and implementation of comprehensive and integrated community engagement strategies in support of the organization's mission, vision, values and strategic priorities, with a focus on One Halton Healthcare.
  • Is accountable for leading community engagement activities with communities in and surrounding Halton Healthcare's sites.
  • Accountable for community engagement plans and execution for Halton Healthcare.
  • Is accountable for developing and executing a plan for partnering with key community groups to reach and engage diverse perspective for both information sharing and gathering their input on hospital planning and activities.
  • Develop relationships with peers and associates across the organization to understand the Hospital's business/operations activities, to identify community engagement opportunities and to share information.
  • Develops and executes communications plans aimed at further engaging diverse communities.
  • Leads the development and production of any related communication materials in alignment with corporate priorities.
  • Use exceptional strategic communications skills and tactics to support engagement with key community leaders.
  • Supports the Senior Leadership Team in executing all community engagement related activities.
Partner Engagement
  • In collaboration with the President & CEO and Chief Communications Officer and VP Strategy & Partnerships, proactively manage Halton Healthcare's reputation in the communities it serves, with government representatives and within the hospital sector.
  • Conduct regular public opinion research as a basis for developing engagement strategies and plans.
  • Build awareness and maintain internal and external partner support for Halton Healthcare and its strategic plans.
  • Develop, plan and execute a proactive partner relations strategy and manage communications with key government partners including funding, expansions and new builds.
  • Manage relationships with community partners to ensure project/communications deliverables and expectations are effectively managed.
  • Represent the organization in discussions with key partners, including government officials.
  • Identifies and mitigates potential reputational issues and collaborate with the Director, Communications on proactive and reactive issues management, where appropriate, with external partners.
Partnerships
  • Conceive, design and implement an inaugural partnerships strategy for Halton Healthcare.
  • Identify and build strategic partnerships that will enable the achievement of Halton Healthcare's strategic plan and One Halton Healthcare vision, including a future campus of care on the Walker Wood farm site.
  • Work directly with clinical leaders to assess and advance partnerships that strategically support the advancement of the strategic plan and the One Halton Healthcare vision.
  • Represent the organization in discussions with strategic partners.
  • Accountable for maintenance of contact list for community partner and government relations activities.
Leadership
  • Lead, direct, guide, and coordinate activities and workload to ensure the accurate and timely delivery of required events (community town halls, CEO community roadshow, etc.)
  • Develop relationships with peers and associates across the organization to understand the Hospital's business/operations activities, to identify community engagement opportunities and to share information.
  • Lead systems and processes to strengthen the organization's commitment to executing the partnerships strategy.
  • Must work with and influence the organization to unify goals and targets.
  • Independently manage the flow of sensitive and confidential information across key partners, including government officials.
  • Support the executive team as a thought-leader to develop insights and recommendations on community engagement and partnerships, informed by industry context.
  • Work directly with the VP, Medical and Academic Affairs, Medical Staff Office, and the Clinical Teams to identify and secure champions and synergies with Halton Healthcare talent to drive One Halton Healthcare priorities.
  • Help drive the implementation of the organization's One Halton Healthcare Plan.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive public affairs, policy or community engagement experience;
  • Post-Secondary Degree (Master's preferred) in a public affairs-related field or equivalent;
  • Expert knowledge of partner engagement and government relations, including a track record of success leading awareness campaigns;
  • Demonstrated experience in partnership development, including engagement;
  • Outstanding skills in building strategic and productive relationship and developing and managing partnerships across functional departments and between organizations;
  • Excellent communication skills are required: public speaking, written reports, and verbal presentations will be frequent activities;
  • Demonstrated experience developing and implementing project plans, programs, support tools and processes;
  • Demonstrated experience working with, and knowledge about, marginalized populations, especially (but not limited to) Indigenous, Francophone, or racialized groups;
  • Demonstrated critical thinking and problem solving skills
  • Appreciates research and evidence based practices and is passionate and dedicated to continual learning and knowledge sharing;
  • Brings different skills and knowledge together from outside and inside the organization to generate original approaches to meeting challenging goals;
  • Aligns multiple internal work groups to new knowledge and other practice innovations;
  • Knowledge of Board governance in the health care setting and demonstrated ability to contribute to Board relations.
