As a Conservation Coordinator, you\'ll work across diverse landscapes, supporting conservation efforts from alpine meadows to eelgrass beds. Responsibilities include managing emerging invasive species like the green crab and bullfrogs or surveying for elusive species like Olympic shrews to amphibians such as coastal giant salamanders or protecting toads migrations, contributing to climate change research, ecosystem restoration, habitat augmentation, and mapping and protecting at-risk populations and their habitat. Dive into the conservation of marine ecosystems and the preservation of wide-ranging species like grizzly bears, wolverines, and species such as mountain goats, whitebark pine, or cliff nesting falcons.Engage park visitors in creative conservation initiatives and make a tangible impact in parks and protected areas. Collaborate closely with Indigenous Nations to promote reconciliation and honor traditional knowledge. Job Requirements:

• Completed related degree or two (2)-year diploma in a Natural Resource Management related field (related field may include: Biology, Geology, Geography, Recreational Planning, Outdoor Recreation, Forestry, Fisheries, Anthropology); OR,
• Secondary school graduation (or equivalent) and two (2) years related experience (related experience can include: park system (operations), conservation, outdoor recreation, forestry, any earth sciences, recreation planning).
• Experience in natural resource management (such as ecosystem management, ecological restoration, fish and/or wildlife management and recovery, forestry management, invasive species management, natural resource inventory and research, environmental impact assessment), and/or
• Experience in parks and protected area management encompassing a broad range of activities and initiatives related to the delivery of conservation programs and services including contract management, compliance, and enforcement, and/or park interpretation.
• Experience in biological research, sampling, analysis, data management, synthesis and reporting.

Preference may be given to applicants who have:

• Experience in parks and protecting areas management.
• Experience in contract and/or financial agreement management.
• Experience planning, coordinating, and implementing natural resource-related projects.
• Experience in data collection, organization, entry, and simple data analysis.
• Experience preparing technical reports and other types of communication (e.g., interpretive signs, Q&As, training, and presentations).
• Experience working in a field-based environment related to wildlife or ecosystems-based management.
• Experience working collaboratively with First Nations.
• Experience with policies and legislation governing protected areas in BC.
• Experience working with multidisciplinary teams.
• Experience negotiating solutions and partnerships with stakeholders in ecology and/or natural resource management.

Provisos

• Valid B.C. class 5 or 7N drivers licence or an equivalent class driver's license from another province or jurisdiction.
• Meet safety standards of Work Safe BC.
• Conduct field work which may include travel to remote areas by vehicle, boat, air or foot, overnight or extended stay in rough camp conditions and outdoor work in all weather conditions.
• May be required to operate a variety of equipment.
