Job Summary


Support Indigenous engagement and be an active part of BC\xe2\x80\x99s reconciliation process The Ministry of Forests\xe2\x80\x99 Cariboo-Chilcotin Natural Resource District team provides expert advice and decision support relating to multiple business areas in the District. The primary focus of the Advisor, Indigenous Relations is centered on conducting consultations for the use of natural resources on Crown land and determining the impact on Indigenous identified, or potential, traditional use areas. A skilled and effective written and verbal communicator, you engage with Indigenous communities on natural resource applications and liaise with Ministry staff as an expert on the legal and procedural requirements of Indigenous consultation. A collaborative approach underpins the successful and productive working relationships you establish and maintain with a wide variety of contacts, including Indigenous peoples, industry, contractors, environmental agencies, stakeholders and provincial and federal agencies. Job Requirements:

  • Degree or diploma related to the natural resource sector (e.g., forestry, resource management, agrology, environmental science); an equivalent combination of education or experience may be considered.
  • Experience working or interacting with Indigenous communities and facilitating Indigenous consultation.


Preference may be given to applicants with:
  • Experience conducting research and analysis related to land use, resource management, social or economic development issues.

About this Position:
This is a permanent, full time position located in Williams Lake.
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to two (2) days at home per week subject to an approved Telework Agreement.
Employees of the BC Public Service must be located in BC at the time of employment.
Applicants who do not fully meet the required qualifications may be considered for this position, but at a lower classification.
