CONTRACT OPPORTUNITY Stage Manager - March Workshop YFNCT\xe2\x80\x99s Dreaming Roots Remount and Tour YFNCT is hiring a Stage Manager for the next stage in our journey on this powerful new show. Join our team as we share Dreaming Roots in Yukon communities in spring and fall 2023! About the Show It\xe2\x80\x99s time to return To the sacred place where life begins To transform, laugh, and dream together Dreaming Roots is a spectacular, inspiring performance journey by and about Yukon First Nations people. It weaves together new work created by numerous Yukon Indigenous artists in dance, music, drumming, theatre, storytelling and more. The show is directed by Alejandro Ronceria and Diyet van Lieshout, two internationally acclaimed Indigenous artists. The show is being adapted and remounted for touring. Contract Details - March 2023 Workshop March 1-10
  • Prep time, flexible schedule
March 11-13, 15-17 Kwanlin D\xc3\xbcn Cultural Centre
  • During day/Includes individual and small group rehearsals, artist check-in sessions and production meetings (Day off March 14)
March 20-31
  • Follow-up tasks, flexible schedule
Fee: $4,000 in instalments based on 100-110 hours at $35/hour
Duties of the March Workshop Stage Manager include but are not limited to:
  • Confirming and updating workshop schedule with directors, producers and artists (draft schedule already completed)
  • Lead communications with artists on workshop (contacts, scheduling, attendance, artist needs, etc)
  • Running workshop rehearsals
  • Keeping detailed track of changes in script, blocking, light, sound, music, costume, and/or set change cues: Note that this is a workshop and new material may be generated by the artists in script, movement, sound, etc.
  • Creating and sharing daily rehearsal report summaries with key information for team
  • Communicating director\xe2\x80\x99s wishes to designers, production and technical team
  • Attending scheduled production meetings
  • Performing all other services traditionally performed by Stage Managers in the running of a rehearsal
  • There are opportunities for additional contracts for Stage Manager and Assistant Stage Manager in April, May and beyond for rehearsals and touring. Please contact us if interested.

Find out more HERE. More About Dreaming Roots Dreaming Roots premiered to audience acclaim in 2022 at the Arctic Arts Summit and Ad\xc3\xa4ka Cultural Festival in Whitehorse, Yukon. This show featured 50+ performing artists, from youth to Elders, on stage at the Yukon Arts Centre. They represented almost every corner of the Yukon. Touring versions will be streamlined with smaller cast sizes and realizable technical and design elements, while remaining true to the original show. Adapting and touring this show in 2023 and beyond is part of a multi-year legacy project in Yukon Indigenous cultural performing arts revitalization and development. Our goal is to ignite the fire in this and future generations. Emerging and experienced artists, youth, elders, mentors, and others working behind the scenes are all part of this culturally grounded process reaching from Yukon First Nation communities to wider audiences in the North.
