The Stage Manager is responsible for the day-to-day coordination of rehearsals and performances for the 2024 Indigenous Summer Play Readings, acting as a leader in ensuring a safe and comfortable environment to work in. They work collaboratively with the Directors to lead rehearsals, ensure schedules are followed, and notes are communicated effectively. They create and maintain a prompt script that includes actor blocking, prop tracking, schedules and calendars, show setup and strike instructions, as well as any other information that is relevant to production or safety. They also call cues during performances, and submit show reports following. Please note that the readings will be touring to various communities and the Stage Manager must be available for all performance and rehearsal dates. Stage Manager responsibilities will also include some light front of house duties and organizing tour carpool plans. Stage Manager Prep Week Begins: June 3 Orientation (Time TBD): June 7 Daytime Rehearsals (10am-5pm): June 8; June 10 & 11; June 13 & 14 Tech Dress (Time TBD): June 16 Tour Scheduled for June 20-24; June 28-30; July 5-6; July 12-13. Locations are to be announced. Compensation: $1875.00 Term: June 3 2024 - July 19 2024 About the Indigenous Summer Play Readings: Every year, Gwaandak Theatre is proud to present two scripts by Indigenous playwrights never before presented or performed in the Yukon! This year, in a celebration of generational excellence, we are proud to be presenting two works written by Yukon First Nations playwrights: Constellation by Tyra Ashauntie Gill (Selkirk First Nation) and Justice by Leonard Linklater (Vuntut Gwitchin First Nation). About Gwaandak Theatre: Gwaandak Theatre Society is the Yukon\xe2\x80\x99s only Indigenous-led professional theatre company. Our stories question, honour, and celebrate. They explore themes around decolonization, cultural identity, social justice, underrepresented voices and human rights. We tour to both tiny communities and major centres, and provide comprehensive study guides for secondary schools and colleges. Gwaandak Theatre develops, produces and tours plays for both youth and adults. Our programming also includes new play workshops, readings and training for theatre artists.
