STAFF ACCOUNTANT
We are seeking a detail-oriented and client-focused professional to join our team as a
Staff
Accountant
in our
Sussex, New Brunswick
office. In this role, you'll work with small to mid-size businesses across diverse industries, providing exceptional accounting and tax services. At Ascend, we go beyond the numbers, adopting a personal advisory approach to help clients achieve their goals and drive their success.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
Preparing client bookkeeping and accounting records, financial statements, corporate and personal income tax returns.
Reconciling accounts receivable and accounts payable.
Preparing T1s, T4s, T5s, HST, and other compliance returns.
Developing management reports, financial analysis, and client memos.
Communicating tax and accounting concepts to clients and addressing their inquiries.
Responding to CRA correspondence, requests, and audits--ensuring work is organized and audit-ready.
Preparing adjusting journal entries, working papers, T2 returns, and compilation engagement financial statements.
WHAT YOU BRING
An accounting or business diploma/certificate or equivalent work experience.
3+ years of public accounting experience.
Solid understanding of the accounting cycle and balance sheet reconciliation.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Excel, and QuickBooks.
Knowledge of Canadian personal, corporate, and trust tax.
Experience with Caseware, Sage, Xero, Wagepoint, Hubdoc, and QBO Certification is an asset.
Enrollment in the CPA program is an asset, though not required.
