This Staff Accountant position is required to work on-site at our Toronto, ON office. JOB SUMMARY: The Staff Accountant works as part of a centralized accounting team to create and analyze financial reports, manage invoice and transaction postings, and ensure help improve accounting processes and controls. The Staff Accountant works closely with the Finance Manager, Controller and the financial reporting team to generate, maintain, and review accounting records, and support special projects including annual budgets, annual audits and monthly, quarterly and year-end financial statements and reports. The position acts as a trusted accounting resource to employees, provides support to the executive team on accounting related matters, and ensures accounting policy compliance for all subsidiaries. RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Computes, classifies and records financial transactions to ensure the financial records of the organization are accurate.
  • Works with the Sage X3 ERP system to post financial transactions such as sales, operating expenses, and intercompany transactions and following correct chart of account and site dimensions.
  • Performs balance sheet account reconciliations as part of month-end close procedures including various accruals, prepaid accounts, and inventory.
  • Matches purchase orders with invoices and assist in A/R collections.
  • Performs cash reconciliations of bank and other cash accounts.
  • Assists with monthly financial statements, including cash flow, profit and loss statements and balance sheets.
  • Must work across organizational boundaries and all levels of the company to achieve plant, state or corporate objectives.
REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor\'s degree in Accounting or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 2+ years of relevant accounting experience (A/R, A/P, general ledger, and/or financial reporting).
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; with responsive feedback at all times.
  • Strong PC skills including advanced Microsoft Excel knowledge and ERP software (QuickBooks, Sage X3)
  • Knowledge of U.S. GAAP preferred
  • Ability to make decisions, interact well with co-workers, understand and follow posted work rules/procedures and to accept constructive criticism.
  • Able to deliver under pressure for deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently in a highly organized manner and demonstrate sound judgement.
