Job Description


The main responsibilities for the Staff Accountant include, but are not limited to, general ledger accountability,financial reporting, financial analysis, HR support and other special projects as assigned. Reporting to the Finance &Accounting Director, the Staff Accountant will be involved with the monthly and annual close, annual external audit, intercompany activities, account reconciliations, AR\\/AP and accrued expenses, payroll support, as well as various ad-hoc requests as needed. The position will be process oriented and expected to identify and implement efficiencies and time saving ideas.

  • Fluency in English required with good oral and written communication skills. Working knowledge of French is considered a plus;
  • Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in accounting or finance from a four-year college or university required;
  • 2+ years experience in accounting\\/finance department, preferably with an international company;
  • Team player, great attitude and collaborative;
  • Good analytical and problem solving skills;
  • Ability to manage conflicting demands and priorities by demonstrating good planning skills;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and Outlook;
  • IFRS and ASPE strong understanding and proven application;
  • Hands-on approach and detail oriented;
Working Schedule:
  • Working hours\xe2\x80\x99 time zone: EDT\\/EST;
  • Hybrid job position: partial remote working;
  • Participation into Company benefit plan;
  • Processing day-to-day transactions including accounts receivable and accounts payable transactions,payroll and benefits, inventory and banking transactions;
  • Reconciling, analysing and maintaining general ledger entries. Performing monthly closing activities by preparing, verifying, and entering accurate journal entries into the general ledge and submitting reports for Corporate;
  • Filing monthly and quarterly sales tax returns;
  • Managing and supporting working capital operations to optimise cash process;
  • Supervising the accuracy of the travel agent payment terms;
  • Supporting financial, control, and operational audits as needed;
  • Supporting the preparation of the annual budget and quarterly forecasts;
  • Establishing and implementing basic accounting policies and procedures;
  • Implementing and monitoring internal controls, such as maintaining organized filing systems;
  • Supporting in calculating payroll and submitting data to the third-party payroll provider;
  • Supporting in all HR activities that involve Finance department;
  • Perform ad hoc financial analyses of transactions related to revenues and expenses;
  • Assist with special projects or other assignments, as deemed necessary by the Financial Controller.
