STAFF ACCOUNTANT

West Fraser Grande Prairie

Description:

Reporting to the Divisional Controller Alberta OSB, the General Accountant is a key member of the Grande Prairie OSB Team. The General Accountant provides support for West Fraser finance and accounting systems, including accounts payable, payroll, and financial and operational reporting.

Staff Accountant

Responsibilities:

• Advise and contribute to the preparation of operations reports, monthly and quarterly forecast updates, and the annual site budget.
• Process month end closing, including journal entries & account reconciliations.
• Maintain internal controls to ensure compliance with Company policies and SOX.
• Assist in ensuring that functional controls are in place to provide accurate coding, payment and reporting of operating expenditures.
• Prepare weekly, monthly, and quarterly analysis reports as required.
• Support the timely and accurate reporting of financial, operational, and statistical data.
• Inventory control and analysis
• Ad hoc requests from mill management, head office or other projects as required.

Our ideal candidate would have:

• 4-year degree in business, accounting, or finance
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and a working knowledge of Word and PowerPoint
• Experience in Oracle financial system is a plus
• Experience with SOX is preferred
• Strong written, verbal and presentation communication skills
