Robert Half has partnered with a highly reputable public accounting firm in the Niagara Region. As they continue to expand, they are seeking a dedicated Staff Accountant to join their team. The Staff Accountant will play a vital role in performing various accounting and financial tasks, working closely with clients to ensure accurate and compliant financial reporting. This is a full-time, permanent position, offering a balanced work schedule throughout the year, and a competitive compensation. The owner is dedicated to coaching the team and will assist the incumbent with obtaining and retaining their CPA.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Reporting: Prepare and review financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Tax Compliance: Assist in the preparation of federal and state income tax returns for individuals, corporations, partnerships, and other entities. Stay updated on changing tax regulations and provide tax planning advice to clients.
- Audit Support: Participate in audit engagements by preparing workpapers, reconciling accounts, and assisting with audit procedures. Work closely with audit teams to meet deadlines and ensure audit quality.
- Bookkeeping and Record-Keeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records for clients. Manage accounts payable and receivable, bank reconciliations, and general ledger entries.
- Client Communication: Communicate with clients to gather financial information, answer inquiries, and provide financial advice. Develop and maintain strong client relationships.
- Compliance and Regulations: Stay informed about accounting standards and regulatory changes, ensuring clients remain in compliance with accounting and tax regulations.
- Continuous Learning: Keep abreast of industry trends and accounting best practices to improve skills and knowledge, contributing to the firm\'s ongoing success.
- Bachelor\'s degree in Accounting or Finance is required; CPA (or working towards CPA) is preferred.
- A minimum of 1 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in a public accounting firm.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, and taxation.
- Proficiency in tax software and Microsoft Excel is required.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with clients and colleagues.
- Detail-oriented, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to meet deadlines, manage multiple tasks, and work well under pressure.
