Our Trading team is looking for someone with acute analytical skills to take large amounts of external and internal data, aggregate and model it, to provide near-term market intelligence and fundamental analysis to help our Crude traders better understand how to trade within the market. Cross-geographic and commodity collaboration across the trading platform will be paramount to success in the role.
Minimum Requirements:Five years of experience in a commodity-based trading environment A University degree in business, finance, accounting or engineering Detailed knowledge of North America physical crude oil markets and logistics, with a focus on the WCSB. Knowledge of financial and physical trading instruments such as forwards, futures, swaps and options A proven ability to quickly build and maintain positive, effective relationships across all levels in an organization Thoroughness and accuracy through attentiveness to detail Knowledge of data mining, modeling and data analysis using excel

Responsibilities:Conduct supply and demand analysis to generate trade strategies and identify market and pricing trends Assist in the development of the team's short- to medium-term outlook and lead discussions centered on Canadian crude oil balances, and the identification of dislocations and of trade opportunities Design, develop and support trading tools to monitor seasonality trends, location arbs and refining margins for key global regions Utilize advanced modeling techniques to determine the relationship between energy market variables Support the team in identifying, evaluating and modeling asset optimization opportunities related to pricing, transportation and other commercial terms Collaborate with internal analysts across geographies within trading and convey points of view to the wider desk Aid in the development, training and mentorship of colleagues within the team

Location and other key details:You will work out of our Calgary head office, located in the Suncor Energy Centre at 150 - 6th Ave S.W. This role is in the office, hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday
