Position Summary
This Crude Oil Scheduler position is located at Marathon Petroleum Company's remote office in Calgary, Alberta. The selected candidate will work with a team of schedulers, crude oil traders, and analysts to optimize crude oil supply throughout MPC's Canadian trading and supply system. This scheduling role will be responsible for managing pipeline, rail, truck, and waterborne movements to various destinations such as refineries, terminals and market centers. This successful candidate will also interact heavily with numerous external business partners such as pipeline companies, crude oil producers, crude oil trading companies and the like. This role will work within the Global Feedstocks Value Chain (GFVC) team and will provide an increased understanding of logistic fundamentals of crude oil supply while performing a complex and critical function to the enterprise. Key ResponsibilitiesNominates and schedules pipeline, waterborne, truck, rail and/or delivery movements through use of propriety and third-party scheduling systems. Monitors inventories and shipping schedules daily to ensure that supply meets demand. Help develop and manage mid to long term supply plans across multiple pipeline systems for multiple refineries. Help identify process improvements to enhance accuracy of schedules. Work closely with Trading group to identify and execute value opportunities. Communicates and verifies planned movements with all stakeholders, including but not limited to traders, optimizers, internal and external counterparties, customers, suppliers, producers, marketers, terminals, vessels, and pipelines. Provides timely and accurate inventory position information to Trading, Pricing, Marketing, Trucking and Supervision. Performs month end duties, including ensuring scheduling data is accurately represented in system of record and responding to accounting inquiries in a timely manner. Responds to unexpected events making contingency arrangements to minimize disruption of supply. Initiates and coordinates movements independently through Marathon's distribution channels based on a given plan. Identifies and communicates constraints and begins to identify optimization opportunities on their desk. Gains knowledge of the costs of transportation associated with the movements of crude to Marathon refining system. Learn the regional supply picture.
Education and Experience
SchedulerBachelor's degree required Minimum of two years of industry-related experience required
