Job Description

Marshall Canada is seeking a Sr. Systems Engineer to join our team in Ottawa, ON. Reporting to the Sr. Manager, Systems Engineering, this role is responsible to support and lead systems engineering activities critical to the performance, reliability, and scalability of Marshall products and solutions. This role will also act as a technical leader and mentor, contributing to strategic decisions and overseeing complex system development projects.


Your responsibilities in the role:



Lead systems engineering activities to meet business, program, and project demands including:



Developing and governing systems engineering management plans, ensuring alignment across multiple projects. System Architecture Definition - lead the development and optimization of complex system architectures, including defining and integrating subsystems across disciplines. Interface Management - define and manage system, subsystem, and component interfaces with rigorous oversight to ensure consistency with all applicable requirements. Size, Weight, and Power (SWaP) Management - establish, monitor, and ensure compliance with SWaP constraints throughout the system lifecycle while maintaining performance and cost targets. Requirements Management - lead the development and traceability of customer and system-level requirements in formal management systems. Define verification strategies and ensure comprehensive validation evidence. Cost Management - collaborate with cross-functional leaders to define and maintain system cost allocations, drive cost reduction initiatives, and manage technical trade-offs. Documentation - oversee the creation and maintenance of system design artifacts, verification plans, and ensure full traceability to all requirements and design decisions. Cross-Functional Leadership - lead cross-functional project teams to ensure robust system integration and project alignment. Mentorship and Technical Guidance - mentor junior engineers and contribute to the advancement of internal systems engineering practices and tools. Other duties as assigned.

Apply if you have most of the following:



Bachelor's degree in electrical, mechanical, or aerospace engineering (or equivalent). Minimum 8 years of systems engineering experience with increasing responsibility. Currently hold, or eligible to apply for, Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) license. INCOSE certification or equivalent strongly preferred. Proven experience in regulated industries such as aerospace, defense, or healthcare. Expert-level knowledge of systems engineering principles, practices, and lifecycle models (e.g., V-model). Demonstrated experience leading complex system development projects and cross-functional teams. Proficiency with DOORS or other requirements management tools. Strong experience using SharePoint and Microsoft Office suite for engineering development. Advanced Excel skills (VBA experience is an asset).
Must be eligible to meet the requirements of export control regulations, including the Canadian Controlled Goods Program and Canadian government security requirements.
