The Opportunity
You will set a new standard for OpenText Cloud Operations including site reliability through good communication with your team, with your manager, and your peers. You will have the opportunity to define the technologies to be used, the structure of teams and how work is completed, and responsible for the delivery of pipelines for product development and releases into production.
This job requires you be able to work autonomously, in collaboration with others in Cloud Operations as well as Development, IT, and Customer Service, and at the direction of the Manager of Site Reliability. Because your work will have visibility by other department members and management, frequent communication with your team and others concerning projects and issues is expected.

You Are Great At

  • Provide support, improve, and implement infrastructure as code and applications on top of various platforms. Troubleshoot and triage issues as they arise.
  • Work closely with various teams across the organization, including the security team, and development team for requests for assistance
  • Execute with minimal technical supervision, embrace reliability constraints, and be proactive in contributing improvements to the code base
  • Promote technical vision in concert with product development for VM and containerized product development, deployment, and operationalization
  • Establish/maintain security guidelines, practices, and department procedures
  • Establish/maintain effective customer points of contact (development, infrastructure, teammates) for collaboration and troubleshooting projects related to existing technical issues
  • Mentor peers through code reviews, paired programming, and working sessions
  • Focus on our uptime to ensure the team meets agreed uptime SLAs through better monitoring and alerting, and suggesting more resilient designs
  • Demonstrated success in delivering high-quality technology products/services in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to prioritize well, communicate clearly and understands how to drive a high level of focus and excellence with a strong, talented, opinionated team
  • Sound business judgment, ability to set clear vision and goals and drive the organization in delivering to those goals
  • Proven ability to influence others and strong analytical thinking skills are critical to success in this position

  • Demonstrated ability to conceptualize, manage, and prioritize multiple projects

What It Takes
  • 6-10+ years in technical development, QE, or operations role
  • 2-5 years of experience building fully automated software applications and infrastructure provisioning and deployment pipelines
  • Extensive experience in an iterative development environment and CI/CD practices and tools is a must
  • Familiarity with building and managing microservices-based systems
  • Extensive experience with AWS and infrastructure as code (Terraform)
  • Python, Ruby, Powershell, and/or Bash experience
  • Experience supporting and troubleshooting web server applications
  • Prior experience with build and deployment tools
  • Solid understanding of networking and of system security best practices
  • Has a deep knowledge of mixed operating system environments, structured, non-structured and distributed data platforms, and can easily apply the concepts of one data service API to another
  • Extensive knowledge of centralized logging systems
  • Has strong analytical skills as applied to information technology, and can work independently of others in an assignment
  • Has a good understanding of system hardware, storage subsystems, and networking and common data protocols and APIs
  • Extensive knowledge in the use of Jenkins, TeamCity, TFS/Azure DevOps, or similar for orchestration
  • Extensive knowledge in the use of GitHub, GitLab, Perforce, or similar for source management
  • Extensive knowledge in the use of build artifact management
  • Familiarity with the use of infrastructure monitoring tools
  • Familiarity with the use of OpsGenie, Everbridge, or similar for notification management
  • Familiarity with Pingdom, Thousand Eyes, or similar for external monitoring
  • Communicates concepts and instructions clearly both verbally and in written form
  • Has a desire to keep current with knowledge of technologies, learning new technologies, mastering them, and distributing that knowledge to teammates
  • Can speak honestly, openly, and tactfully with both managers and teammates as a collaborator
