In this dynamic engineering role, you will work with our world-class Terra Nova Subsurface Team, including other engineers and geoscientists, to provide reservoir technical analysis to support the ongoing operations and investments within the East Coast region of the Suncor Exploration and Production Business Unit. As a part of the production engineering team you will be responsible for production optimization, operations support, conceptual well design (completions), and providing support to drilling operations.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Seven or more years of oil and gas experience with an emphasis on offshore production engineering
  • Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in engineering
  • Registered or immediately eligible to register as a professional engineer through PEG-NL
  • Experience in oil & gas production engineering in offshore developments, including knowledge of: subsea infrastructure (including well and subsea integrity), surface production operations artificial lift, and offshore drilling and completions operations and knowledge and proficiency in production engineering tools and processes (including nodal analysis, well allocations and/or well flow reporting, etc.)
  • Strong coaching and mentoring skills, with the ability to collaborate in a multidisciplinary team environment
  • Demonstrated strong communication skills
  • The ability to anticipate potential problems and check for out-of-the-ordinary conditions, as well as having a strong sense of accountability
  • Understand complex processes, strive to develop and implement continuous improvement and creative process enhancements
  • A zero-tolerance for shortcuts, and if the procedure is incorrect, you fix it
  • Experience with data analytics, visualization, and machine learning routines is considered an asset
Responsibilities:
  • Day to day operational support to the Terra Nova asset specifically focused on well optimization
  • Troubleshoot well problems including well integrity issues for; production, water injection and gas injection wells, as well as flow assurance
  • Evaluate opportunities to optimize existing well, gathering system and topside performance
  • Provide technical support to operations, including production of sour fluids
  • Review new development opportunities, including completions of new wells, interventions on existing wells, as well as alternative field development such as Water Alternating Gas and near field tie-backs
  • Contribute to digitalization and simplification initiatives
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to engineers-in-training (EITs) and junior engineers
Location and Key Details:
  • You will work out of our St. John\xe2\x80\x99s office, located at 130 Kelsey Drive
  • Typical working hours are Monday to Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm; however, support to operations will be required outside of regular business hours
  • You will be required to work periods of extra hours, and may include work offshore travel to the TN FPSO and/or MODU is by helicopter or supply vessel
  • You will receive training required to work offshore
  • Qualified residents of the province of Newfoundland and Labrador will be given first consideration in the staffing of this position
