Position Title: Sr Planner & Sustainability Coordinator

Team and Location: Parkland Refinery - Burnaby, BC

Position Summary:

The primary focus of this position is to ensure safe, reliable and profitable scheduling out of the Burnaby refinery. This position will be fully responsibly for jet planning and scheduling duties, while also playing a crucial role supporting other schedulers (Gasoline, Diesel, FO).

Another aspect of this position is to support process improvement initiatives and sustainability best practices with 3rd party consultants and help drive the successful completion of HVP value-driven improvements and BCOPE initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

Primary Jet Planner:

  • Responsible for planning all jet fuel movements in the M1-M3 timeframe and working with Operations/Oils Planning/3rd Party entities to execute the plan.
  • Responsible for maintaining Jet inventory and planning module in MBO and other tools (inclusive of Pembina Tank Volumes).
  • Responsible for Jet forecast inputs into Anaplan and the associated Jet nominations required Monthly, weekly and with airlines with associated alignment with the broader Supply team and specifically the Jet Trader.
  • Working with the Supply team on HVP initiatives, attending all relevant meetings, producing reports as required.
  • Key Liaison with Pembina (YVR Jet PL operator).
Maintain and Build on Improvements Developed through internal or Third-Party (e.g. Trindent) Engagements:
  • Government Taxation Rule interpretation opportunities.
  • Coordinate activities for Trindent Audits and Assessments.
  • Manage the development, implementation, and ongoing execution of several HVP and supply-related profit improvement ventures. This includes BCOPE opportunities ranging from $0.5-5MM, as well as supporting cross-functional and STaR initiatives.
Infrastructure and Long-Term Strategy Supply Representative:
  • Work with Strategy and Project teams to ensure Supply considerations in the near and long-term are included to drive collaboration, long term sustainability and future value capture. Range of projects covered include:
  • Infrastructure Project
  • Rail strategy
  • Renewable Naphtha
  • Bio-Feed Stock imports
  • Bio in Gasoline/Diesel Grades (e.g. E15/ B10 +)
  • LROP Involvement
  • Gasoline Spec Strategy (e.g. Sulfur in Gasoline)
  • RFS and LCFR Compliance - Supply Alignment
Coverage Support:
  • Support the Gasoline Blending and Diesel/Dark Oils Planner roles to grow bandwidth within the team to progress long term work items, process and giveaway improvement initiatives and promote better work/life balance. Provide alternating Friday and vacation coverage for these roles.
  • Other activities will include support for Supply team systems (SCS), giveaway and Compliance/Regulatory reporting support and involvement in system efficiency and improvement projects (SCS, Analplan, etc).
Aspen MBO \xe2\x80\x93 Jet scheduling and KBC VMSCS, Support:
  • Troubleshooting, Upgrades and Support
  • Support 3rd party engagements
  • Develop expertise in planning tools
  • Support long term strategies
Qualifications and Skills:
  • Demonstrated commitment to personal and process safety.
  • 5-10 years of refinery experience in a commercially intense supply and operations work environment.
  • Advanced knowledge of supply chain activities, responsibilities and workflows gained by working either directly or indirectly with the Refinery Supply group for several years.
  • Knowledge of A1 operations and Refinery Laboratory work processes/testing methods is considered a strong asset.
  • Organizational and prioritization skills \xe2\x80\x93 a demonstrated ability to multi-task and manage decisions with short deadlines and minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work on own initiative to develop and implement innovative solutions to business and logistics-based challenges.
  • Passion for using technology and analytics to drive continuous improvements within the business.
