Position Summary



As a

Senior Ocean Import Coordinator

, you will play a key role in managing client relationships, preparing quotations, arranging import bookings, coordinating logistics, and ensuring the accuracy of import documentation. You will respond to all client inquiries promptly, support efficiency across the import department, and identify opportunities for revenue growth.

Essential Functions



Communicate with clients, prepare quotations, arrange import bookings, coordinate inland delivery, and issue arrival notices in accordance with client or agent requests. Obtain necessary documentation to ensure compliance with import regulations, including customs documentation and pre-alerts. Respond to client inquiries on all matters in a timely manner relating to import activities. Communicate with agents and carriers to obtain cargo status updates and ensure service standards are met. Prepare and follow up with clients on the status of freight quotes and delivery timelines. Ensure profit margins are achieved, upsell additional services to increase revenue, and prepare billing promptly upon delivery. Coordinate delivery of containers, LCL, and/or Air Freight shipments with trucking companies and warehouses. Communicate with receiving terminals, bonded warehouses, and clients regarding cargo release and delivery. Monitor import documentation to meet CBSA, carrier, and terminal deadlines. Work with carriers on container availability, ocean/LCL bookings, demurrage, and detention management. Complete agent's documentation packages relating to the cargo's mode of transportation. Handle rate inquiries from agents and request destination or local charges when required. Collaborate with colleagues in the import department to improve customer satisfaction, reduce cycle times, and increase revenues. Maintain high performance standards that support continuous improvement and exceptional customer service. May require some travel to visit clients or attend conferences if required. Mentor junior staff and assist with training as part of progression toward a Team Lead role. Other job duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Knowledge



Minimum 3-5 years of general forwarding or marine transportation experience preferred; senior-level experience an asset. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Strong customer service orientation with a desire to provide total client satisfaction. Advanced problem-solving and analytical skills. Strong organizational abilities and attention to detail. Ability to work under pressure and manage competing priorities. Ability to upsell additional services (i.e., insurance, customs brokerage, etc.). Demonstrated leadership potential with an interest in mentoring and coaching.
