Job Summary:

This is an opportunity for a seasoned real estate valuation professional to join HOOPP, one of the Canada\'s leading institutional real estate investment owners, developers, and fund investors. Reporting to the Director, Real Estate Valuation and Performance Measurement, the Manager, Real Estate Valuation will act as one of the organization-wide subject matter experts in real estate valuations. The Manager assumes valuation governance over HOOPP\xe2\x80\x99s $14 B (net) global portfolio, with oversight across all invested asset classes and geographic markets. The Manager will play a key role in defining and scaling the policies, processes and work products relating to the valuation function to reflect and meet the demands of a rapidly growing portfolio.

What you will do:

  • Develop an intimate knowledge of HOOPP\xe2\x80\x99s real estate investment holdings, portfolio operations and stakeholder relationships.

  • Lead a growing team of valuation professionals in carrying out the full cycle appraisal process for the global portfolio on a semi-annual basis.

  • Apply technical expertise and market knowledge to challenge and substantiate valuation results to ensure recorded figures reflect an independent view of fair value.

  • Manage reporting requirements for the Valuation team and continue the improvement of reporting and analytic capabilities.

  • Lead the Valuation team in addressing auditor requirements in support of HOOPP\xe2\x80\x99s external audit process.

  • Foster trust and accountability with internal stakeholders as the subject matter expert on real estate valuations.

  • Develop strong relationships with industry peers and market participants. Remain well informed of market activity, industry trends and technological products and service offerings.

  • Provide feedback to assist in the continuous maturity of valuation policy and play a key role in efforts to drive the consolidation, standardization, harmonization and scalability of best practices in support of valuation process of the global HOOPP real estate portfolio.

  • Provide guidance and support to the Valuation team members, and support the Director, Real Estate Valuation & Performance Measurement in the Performance Measurement function.

  • Other duties as required.


What you bring:

  • University degree in Business, Finance, or related discipline.

  • Designated valuation specialist (AACI, MRICS, MAI, etc.).

  • At least 10 years experience in real estate valuation.

  • Experience in use of Argus software is a requirement.

  • Solid knowledge of real estate valuation methodology applicable to a global portfolio.

  • An independent proactive leader with a desire to make a difference.

  • A service minded problem solver with strong analytical capabilities.

  • Attention to detail, accuracy, and completeness is extremely important.

  • Ability to manage multiple competing priorities under time constraint.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a high level of comfort in liaising with people of varying levels of seniority and navigating potentially challenging conversations.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Highly proficient in Argus Enterprise software and strong MS Office skills.
