WHAT IS THE OPPORTUNITY?

As a Sr. Manager Digital Support you will be responsible for the leadership, coaching and development of a team who works collaboratively with the application development teams, Business partners, and multiple vendors to deliver major initiatives. We are looking for a person who is having strong problem-solving, Production support and engineering background for the Digital Technology Support organization. This role requires a candidate to drive strategic initiatives related to process improvement, release automation, proactive monitoring automation and enforcing compliance across the applications to drive down incidents and bring efficiency to the operations.

WHAT WILL YOU DO?

  • Utilizing deep knowledge of the end-to-end operational processes, reacts and responds to urgent demands, implications and up/downstream impacts of operational/process developments and changes to the business and client experience
  • Overall accountable for the successful launch and seamless implementation and integration of Avion Rewards & Loyalty projects and initiatives - on time, including applicable training, communication and change management requirements
  • Leads the investigation and resolution of complex, high and medium impact system malfunctions or process breakdowns, convening cross-functional teams, establishing root cause, completing impact analysis, formulating and executing remediation strategies and completing post-mortem reviews to leverage lessons learned and mitigating the risk of recurrence
  • Provide regular updates and status to all stakeholders on open issues, Ensuring systems delivered to production environments meet enterprise quality requirements. Facilitate rollout of software components in production
  • Work on IT Risk deliverables: participate in DR exercise, help in DR planning and design; interact with various auditors and make sure that Avion rewards and loyalty applications are according to published RBC IT Risk Standards.
  • Maintain technology currency and vulnerabilities remediation with a keen eye on process improvement and automation capabilities
  • Proactively prepare for planned maintenance over weekends, and all major roll-outs, Provide subject matter experience and guidance to team members, and Provide feedback to Senior Management to improve process improvements
  • Gather and analyze metrics from both operating systems and applications to assist in performance tuning and fault finding.
  • Provides ongoing coaching and development to direct reports ensuring effective execution of their mandates and goals
  • Explore new infrastructure capabilities and technologies to drive innovation (including coding and publishing how-to documentation)
  • Identify potential issues, conflicts, and risks. Analyze, mitigate, and escalate to management where appropriate
  • Perform production support role, including some after-hours rotational on-call support
  • Implement and drive proactive monitoring solutions for internally hosted applications
WHAT DO YOU NEED TO SUCCEED?

MUST HAVE:
  • Minimum of 8 to 10+ years of solid and proven experience in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities and multiple stakeholders in the IT industry.
  • 4 - 5 years of experience as an SRE supporting multiple applications.
  • Demonstrated passion and drive to identify troublesome areas, and find and implement solutions.
  • Strong Knowledge of leading software using a cloud-native stack such as Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, Cloud Foundry and OpenShift.
  • Strong hands-on experience in a variety of tools and languages in Java, SQL, DevOps CI/CD, Dynatrace Managed, PagerDuty, and ServiceNow.
  • Experience in Vendor Management, application development, database, system engineering and/or systems analysis
  • Strong communications skills to participate in projects with technology peers as well as senior business leaders.
  • Self-learner with the ability to build upon existing knowledge base.
  • Experience in building and deploying Kubernetes operators and managing production workloads.
  • Ability to lead a team, mentor and share knowledge.
NICE-TO-HAVE:
  • Prior experience with automation and self-serve enablement of IT processes is considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of SRE principles
  • Understanding of the banking/financial services industry.
  • Experience in agile ways of working
