Job Summary:
As the Senior Manager - Cloud Engineering- SWAT, you will lead a high-performing team of cloud engineers focused on customer success, platform reliability, and technical excellence. This role combines strategic leadership with hands-on technical guidance, ensuring Wind River Cloud Platform customers and partners receive world-class support and innovation.
You will oversee the SWAT team's operations, manage escalations, and drive continuous improvement in platform stability and customer satisfaction. You'll also contribute to open-source projects and collaborate across engineering, product, and customer teams.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage the SWAT Cloud Engineering team, including hiring, career development, performance management, and mentoring.
Oversee Tier 3/4 support for platform and software issues, ensuring timely and effective resolution.
Collaborate with telecom customers and partners to optimize cloud deployments and troubleshoot complex issues.
Contribute to open-source projects such as Kubernetes, OpenStack, and StarlingX.
Develop and implement processes for incident response, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement.
Interface with Product Management, Engineering, Customer Success, Support, and QA to ensure alignment and delivery.
Monitor team metrics and report on performance and customer impact.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or related field.
10+ years of software development or SRE experience.
5+ years of engineering management experience in fast-paced environments.
Strong technical background in cloud-native technologies (OpenStack, Kubernetes, StarlingX).
Proven track record of customer-facing support and incident management.
Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Telecom experience including 5G, ORAN, VRAN, and network cloud.
Deep understanding of OpenStack architecture (Nova, Neutron, Cinder, Keystone).
Programming experience in Python, C/C++, Go, and automation tools (Ansible, Helm, Puppet).
Familiarity with public cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
Strong analytical and debugging skills.
Passion for mentoring and developing engineering talent.
