The Toronto Blue Jays are looking for a Sr. Manager, Capital Projects

The Sr. Manager, Planning and Capital Projects is responsible for overseeing minor construction, renovations and rehabilitation programs associated with all facilities related to the Toronto Blue Jays. This includes planning through to successful execution of the projects. You will ensure project management and stakeholder control is effectively administered, liaison, guide and monitor all requirements in a collaborative environment. This is an exciting opportunity to lead a talented project team, that improve and maintain the ballpark to be best in class for our staff, fans, and players.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Manage Capital Projects

Represents the interests of TBJ, provides effective technical liaison and project oversight for all capital projects, renovations, and related building rehabilitation programs

Ensure the proper design and construction of the facilities

Work completed by consultants and contractors is executed in accordance with legislation and approved project drawings and specifications

Lead the team to implementation of annual CAPEX projects

Projects that support all areas of the business such as: fan experience activations and destinations, suite renovations, player amenity upgrades, office renovations/furniture and support building infrastructure upgrades

Responsible for the end-to end delivery of project /program objectives, ensure quality and process improvements, deliverable timelines, and value-added service are met

Oversee monthly CAPEX reporting and forecasting for Finance and key stakeholders

Develop an annual and strategic 5-year Capital Plan

Develop and lead the annual and five-year capital plan that align with our strategic business priorities

Educate and communicate the process for involvement across the business

You are responsible for the recommendation of the capital plan alongside Senior Director, Facility Management

Determine priority projects to be executed in the following fiscal year based on five-year capital plan and available approved capital budget

Ensure all projects are appropriately scoped, budget, and planned out as part of capital planning process

Establish and deliver process management and administration

Develop and manage the project and planning process

Investigate if PMO documentation and practise aligns with our business

Incorporate best practices, evaluation methodologies, risk evaluation and metrics to create efficient and effective project management

Continually seek process improvement

Oversee monthly executive reports for leadership and project stakeholders

Leadership

Manage a talented Project Team

Provide leadership to direct reports, development planning, coaching, and mentoring

Support, facilitate, and empower the team to succeed in a collaborative work environment and independently

Lead by example, hands on project management; actively involved on the jobsite working alongside consultants, engineers, and contractors

Guidance

People relationships and collaboration are critical in this role, includes all levels of management; all departments involved in projects; consultants; architects, engineers, and vendors

Meet regularly with stakeholders, consultants, engineers, contractors, vendors, and key stakeholders to communicate effectively on both the concerns and best interests of the organization

Remain engaged and knowledgeable with emerging industry practices

Actively support and comply with all safety programs and policies to ensure our ballpark and projects are adhere to the highest standards

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor\'s degree in a related field, or equivalent in work experience

Minimum of 5+ years of progressively related experience in the field of project management and facility construction within a large organization(s)

Must have knowledge of project management, scoping, budget, and scheduling

Knowledge of construction techniques, drawings, function, and associated disciplines

Team player with experience building, leading, and managing a team of Project Managers

Thrive within a collaborative environment

Experience drafting or consulting with legal review of consultant agreements, service agreements and or construction contracts preferred

Professional designation and/or PMP, would be an asset

Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously under tight time constraints

Thrive in a fast-paced environment

Superior interpersonal and communication skills required

Ability and willingness to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required
