Job Description


A large Pharmaceutical company is looking to fill a Senior Financial Analyst position for a long-term contract role that has the ability to go full time. The Senior Financial Analyst consultant is in charge of expense spending, annual budgeting, serving as the primary point of contact for all financial issues for the operational departments. You will also perform analysis of the Capital Assets, and Month end reporting, as well and helping with the yearly budget. This Senior Financial Analyst position is on site hybrid in Scarborough.

Major responsibilities

  • Preparation and review of accurate and timely financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
  • Support the month-end and year-end close processes for company and subsidiaries, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and accruals.
  • Close the books, financial reporting, intercompany transactions. Verify the accuracy and completeness of financial data and resolve any discrepancies.
  • Analyze financial data and performance metrics to identify trends and variances for multiple subsidiaries. Analysis and accruals on utilities, capital accounts & depreciation expense booking
  • Analysis of operating expenses, including variance analysis & commentary vs budget.
  • Create and distribute monthly department expense reports to stakeholders, point person for expense inquiries by stakeholders.
  • Daily cash reporting
  • Weekly cash flow forecast
  • Bank reconciliations
  • Manage asset GL accounts and asset database.
  • Ensure proper documentation and classification of assets.
  • Work with engineering on asset write-off/sale.
  • Partner with Project Manager to ensure correct accounting of capital projects.
  • Collaborate with the finance team to develop annual budgets and financial forecasts, including review of budget variances and explanations for deviations.
  • Update & maintain budget model in PowerBI.
  • Work with PMO Manager on ongoing & new projects that will impact capital spending and depreciation for next fiscal year.
  • Update and reconcile budget figures in ERP system.
Requirements
  • Bachelor\'s degree and CPA designation in or equvalent years experience
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in accounting and financial reporting.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial analysis, and reporting standards.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems. Experience with financial reporting tools is a plus.
  • Advanced Excel skills for data analysis and financial modeling.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities with a keen attention to detail.
  • Strong leadership capability.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
  • Solid understanding of internal controls, risk management, and compliance requirements.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • High ethical standards and a commitment to confidentiality and data integrity.
