Corporate Security is a dynamic, multi-skilled group, our mandate is to deliver multi-layered, intelligence-led, risked-based security solutions that effectively mitigate security and fraud threats and enhance operational resilience, brand and client trust.

Corporate Security Integrated Investigations

Assist CIBC Lines of Business by bringing a systematic, disciplined and intelligence-based approach to incident investigations, including the identification of control gaps.

Investigate and manage incidents of significant external fraud, with a particular focus on those representing organized attacks on CIBC.

Investigate all cases of internal fraud and serious violations of an internal nature, including, but not limited to, instances of suspected defalcation and malicious security/policy breaches.

Lead and participate in industry-based investigative efforts targeting organized criminal groups;

Maintain the primary relationship with local, provincial, and federal law enforcement;

Form strong, collaborative partnerships with all key internal and external partners to mitigate enterprise risk.

What you'll be doing

Provide specialized advice/consultation to investigative inquiries relating to fraud, defalcation incidents, irrecoverable losses and other significant criminal investigations.

Develop and manage relationships with business leaders and internal partners to provide expert advice/consultation concerning the protection of assets, information and people.

Ensure a high standard of investigation service delivery.

Participate in special projects and research assignments.

Liaise with local law enforcement.

Liaise with Corporate Security at other financial institutions.

Prepare and deliver concise reporting of investigative findings.

Develop and deliver formal and informal presentations to business partners on behalf of Corporate Security.

How you'll succeed

Expert knowledge of general investigative practices, the general regulatory environment and knowledge of CIBC's internal policies and procedures.

Excellent working knowledge of criminal law, the legal system and investigative procedures of the Police and Regulatory Bodies.

Relevant industry knowledge and professional contacts.

Well-developed judgment and problem solving skills sufficient to interpret and analyze voluminous and, at times, highly complex information and concepts.

Measure and evaluate complex, extensive and specialized transactions, business functions and processes that typically impact many areas of CIBC. Experience in data analysis techniques is an essential requirement for this position.

Experience in applying an appropriate level of discretion when dealing with sensitive issues will be critical to success in this position.

Strong ability to manage multiple projects and/or initiatives simultaneously and under tight deadlines; including those of a high profile or priority.

Well-developed skills in managing internal and external relationships.

Creative problem solving skills sufficient to develop unique approaches and solutions necessary to resolve complex problems.

Systemic thinker with a strong process, analytical and technical background.

Excellent verbal and written communications skills to convey complex issues, ability to manage conversations and handle stressful situations.

Ability to work under considerable pressure, conduct interviews and present findings to senior leaders within a short timeframe.

Working Environment

This position will require the incumbent to be highly flexible in meeting the demands and the overall objectives of Corporate Security. The incumbent will be required to effectively manage sensitivities inherent in an investigative review process, as well as the sometimes fluid deadlines and priorities associated with these activities.

Limited travel may be required.

May experience high degree of stress as a result of multiple deliverables/within tight deadlines.

May be required to work outside normal business hours in order to service the business needs or meet deadlines.

Will be required to live within a reasonable driving distance of Corporate Security's Vancouver office.
