Job Description


Functioning as a member of the Spiritual Care Department and the Interprofessional health care team, the primary responsibilities of the Spiritual Care Clinician include: the provision of spiritual care to patients, families/friends and staff at the healthcare centre, conducting spiritual assessments and planning of care, treatment and interventions. The Spiritual Care Clinician demonstrates competency in providing spiritual care to diverse spiritual, educational and cultural backgrounds while exhibiting leadership. In addition, the Spiritual Care Clinician is responsible for performing cross-functional and other duties consistent with the job classification, as assigned and/or required. When qualified, potential to co-facilitate Clinical Psycho-spiritual Education Units as a Provisional or Certified Supervisor-Educator.

Education:

  • A Master of Divinity, Master of Arts in Spiritual Care and Psychotherapy, Master of Pastoral Studies, or Master in Spiritual Counseling
  • Certification as a Spiritual Care Practitioner or Psycho-Spiritual Therapist with the Canadian Association of Spiritual Care (CASC). Or have completed two units of SPE with CASC and will complete certification credentialing within two (2) years as part of the employment expectations.
  • Certification as a CASC Supervisor-Educator (or in progress) is an asset and preferred.
  • Credentialing as a Registered Psychotherapist with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO) or in the process of registering with CRPO.
Experience:
  • Three to four (3-4) years\' practical and related experience.
  • Proven track record of facilitating a highly collaborative work environment as well as building and leading high performing, high functioning teams.
  • Work experience in a large community hospital.
  • Demonstrated computer proficiency, including advanced skills with MS Office applications.

Unless otherwise stated applicants must have a minimum educational requirement of Grade 12 or equivalent and must demonstrate proven workplace excellence through commitment to strong job performance and attendance.

Please be reminded that as a Regional Health Centre, in order to provide the necessary patient care, our operations run 24/7. Therefore, depending on the program for which you are applying, it may be an expectation that you are available to work week days and weekends, as well as all shifts - days, evenings, and nights.

  • Must adhere to the duties of workers, as stipulated in Section 28 of the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
