For the position of Speech-Language Pathologist

Reporting to the Owner / Clinic Manager

Start date: flexible

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing clinical services (assessment, treatment, consultation) to children with communication difficulties, differences, and disorders. Services will be based out of Shoreline's clinic in Dartmouth and will include both in-person and virtual therapy sessions. The clinician's caseload would likely include clients with a variety of needs including in the areas of social communication, speech, language, fluency, and literacy.

The position is part-time but there is the option to grow the caseload to full-time in the future if desired.

If the successful applicant is a new graduate, a formal mentorship plan will be developed with either the Manager (an SLP) and/or the SLP Practice Lead.

Shoreline's team is committed to client-centred care, including offering availability that enables the client to access care without interfering with participation in school or endangering employment (i.e., for clients who must choose between care for themselves or their child and keeping their job). The working hours for this position will be discussed during the interview but would include availability to see clients two evenings a week (3-7pm) and a weekend day from 9am-4pm. Scheduling of associated indirect time in addition to this availability is flexible (e.g., prep, documentation).

The successful candidate

must

be licensed with the Nova Scotia Regulator of Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology and meet and maintain all requirements to practice in Nova Scotia.

Requirements:

a recent criminal record check including vulnerable sector check a recent Child Abuse Registry check evidence of Professional Liability Insurance (amount as per NSRASLP's requirements) confirmation that they've had their annual flu shot and will renew the same annually evidence that they are or will be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 and will renew the same annually (or according to recommendations from NS Health)

Assets:

competence to also practice in French experience in other jurisdictions (e.g., other Canadian provinces) ability to bring a diverse perspective to our team participation in the profession outside of clinical work (e.g., involvement with professional association, nonprofit or other community group, regulatory college, or research)

Compensation will be based on experience. This information would be discussed during the offer phase. SLP staff are paid for both direct and indirect time with clients. The successful candidate would be an employee of Shoreline (not a contractor).

The interview process may require one to two meetings. References may be requested at the end of the first interview. We will only contact those to whom we are inviting to an interview. Scheduling for the interview(s) is flexible and may be during the day, evening, or on the weekend to avoid disrupting applicants' current work and family commitments.
