Position Summary
Speech-Language Pathologists are members of the Specialized Learning Supports Team (SLS). This team provides multidisciplinary support to division school personnel serving students with diverse learning needs in Kindergarten through to Grade 12. Support focuses on student success and inclusion in their educational environment.
Job Duties/Responsibilities
providing consultative services and supports to schools and families for children in Kindergarten classrooms through to Grade 12 who have speech and/or language difficulties
providing intervention and assessments
recommending communication strategies and programming for students with complex learning needs through collaborative partnerships with teachers and other professionals
training, coaching and mentoring educational assistants and speech language assistants in the implementation of targeted and specialized strategies
providing expertise to the learning team in the areas of specific communication disorders, expressive language, receptive language, literacy, social communication, speech sound production, and augmentative and alternative communication
discussing, demonstrating, modeling and providing communication strategies to support adaptations and modifications of the curriculum
Education/Qualifications
Master's degree in Speech Language Pathology
registered with Alberta College of Speech Language Pathologists and Audiologists
minimum of three years related experience in classroom-based service delivery to children and youth
excellent communication, collaboration and consultative skills
experience with Augmentative and Alternative Communication
Rate of Pay
$50.99 - $65.21 per hour
