Job Title: Specialty Sales Representative (IOL Product Specialist)

Location: Remote - Canada (Atlantic Provinces)

Alcon Canada\xe2\x80\x99s Surgical Central team is looking for a Specialty Sales Representative (IOL Product Specialist). This role partners with Surgical Account Managers and implements clinical and technical initiatives related to existing and new product launches, to be marketed and sold in major institutions, surgical centers and new medical centers.

This role is key in creating and delivering post launch presentations and delivering training of refractive cataract techniques, intraocular lens (IOL) implantation techniques, cataract-refractive procedures and surgical techniques. Takes part in ophthalmic consultations by training technicians and nurses and shares practice management experience. Communicates knowledge of optical properties such as biometry/power calculations for IOL\xe2\x80\x99s selection.

This role supports the Atlantic Provinces including New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, and Nova Scotia.

As an IOL Product Specialist (Specialty Sales Rep), you will:

Participate in the formulation of national launch strategies for new products and serve to orchestrate regional tactical execution. In doing so, the IOL Prod Specialist will liaise with the local Account Managers (AM) to define ownership of regional targets, monitor KPI\xe2\x80\x99s and provide summary of results to Associate Sales Director (ASD)

Deliver new approved products\xe2\x80\x99 presentations after launch, to ensure education and knowledge of customers and support AMs\xe2\x80\x99 selling process.

Educate and train physicians, clinical personnel, including OR staff on Alcon ATIOL and base lenses to ensure a successful outcome for the patient. Answer a wide range of question concerning applications, as well as clinical technique related to ATIOL and base lens implants. Provide ongoing support on patient selection, biometry calculation, keratometry, IOL selection and reimbursement.

Demonstrate clinical competence and product knowledge to customers ( Physicians, Nurses, Technicians ) during each presentation and irrespective of existing or non-existing relation, fostering perception of Alcon\xe2\x80\x99s excellence in the surgical field

Support perception of Alcon\xe2\x80\x99s products (IOLs and new products) as top of line, helping customer understand a product\xe2\x80\x99s benefits from a clinical as well as from a business perspective, via targeted account planning.

Support Account Managers Business plan execution through excellent presentations and identification of further training and support needs in customers.

Liaise with AMs and ASD, will assist 20-25 key targets accounts in maximizing their business potential through practice development initiatives and clinical expertise.

Provide Practice Development services to help target accounts prepare for successful adoption of Alcon Refractive IOL technologies. These include customer service audits, operational efficiency / scheduling reviews, strategic planning and internal / external marketing and communication.

The ideal candidate has:

Education Minimum Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s Degree (Bus Admin, Commerce, Science)

Preferred: MBA (Commerce, Business/Marketing)

Minimum Experience: 3 - 5 plus years in hospital surgical sales or 5 plus years in Pharma/other products selling to Ophthalmologists

Preferred: 3-5 years with Ophthalmic or Surgical products experience.

Alternative Combinations/Other Professional Credentials: Preferred: Ophthalmic surgery expertise, Designation as Optometrist, Optician or Ophthalmic technician + 5 years selling experience

Valid Driver\xe2\x80\x99s License

Language: Advanced written and verbal communication in English

Travel Requirement: within territory (50%), national and international conferences (weekends and evenings required)

Good working knowledge of industry dynamics and trends required combined with strong knowledge in diagnostic tests and cataract procedure

Able to quickly build confidence in customers despite not having long-term relationship as the key group (surgeons) and very high expectations

Advanced written and verbal communication skills

Independent, creative and innovative thinker who thrives on selling in a consultative selling environment

Strong presenter who has the ability to express ideas that build commitment and trust

Practice Development experience

Strong knowledge in diagnostic tests and cataract procedure

Advanced optic skills ( Optical function of the Eye )

Advanced ophthalmic surgery expertise.

Task oriented with a strong focus on details and results

Customer satisfaction oriented, and collaborative team player

Computer literacy in MSOffice environment and experience with a computerized sales administration system

Strong sense of business acumen with proven analytical ability, organizational and negotiating skills
