Position Summary


We are seeking an experienced and motivated Specialty Pharmacy Operations Manager to lead the daily operations of our growing Calgary based pharmacy and to help scale our services as volume and therapeutic areas grow. Reporting directly to Executive Leadership, this role will oversee operations, staffing, compliance, patient support, call centre, process improvement, logistics, and project implementation. You will be accountable for people leadership, operational excellence, performance management and cross-functional program and project delivery.

Key Responsibilities



Lead, coach, and develop a high?performing team; oversee hiring, onboarding, scheduling, and performance management. Build a culture centered on patient safety, accountability, and continuous improvement. Own day?to?day pharmacy operations, including workflow optimization. Ensure service levels and turnaround times are met; proactively resolve operational bottlenecks. Manage vendor relationships and site infrastructure (facilities, equipment, inventory). Develop, implement, and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and operational policies. Maintain compliance with Alberta College of Pharmacy standards. Safeguard cold chain integrity, controlled substances handling, privacy/security, and record retention requirements. Support technology implementations. Define and track KPIs. Build a data driven quality management system. Build and maintain operational dashboards. Synthesize insights for leadership and drive action plans. Conduct operational audits and identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency optimization. Ensure compliance with pharmacy standards. Manage and implement new pharmacy initiatives and projects to support business growth and patient care. Lead implementation of new PSPs/therapeutic launches, workflow/technology changes, and capacity expansion initiatives. Partner with leadership, vendors, manufacturers and IT to deliver integrated specialty services.

Qualifications



Bachelor's degree or diploma in Pharmacy, Healthcare Administration, Business, or a related field (preferred). Minimum of 3-5 years of operations management experience in a pharmacy, specialty pharmacy, healthcare services or similar environment with demonstrated success Previous experience with specialty medication workflows and patient support programs is strongly preferred. Strong understanding of pharmacy compliance, quality assurance, and regulatory requirements. Proven leadership skills with the ability to manage and mentor teams in a dynamic environment.

Outstanding communication skills (written and verbal). Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and aptitude for learning new systems quickly. Ability to multitask, prioritize, and adapt in a fast-paced environment. Demonstrated ability to lead teams and deliver results in a fast?paced environment. High proficiency with Excel/Sheets.
