You as a Procurement Specialist will:
Manage the full purchasing cycle from requisition to delivery, ensuring materials meet facility standards and operational requirements.
Mentor and support inventory-related processes by providing guidance, training, and best practices to relevant teams.
Source and procure materials for HVAC, plumbing, electrical, janitorial, and other facility systems, ensuring compliance with regulations (e.g., CSA, IPAC).
Evaluate and onboard new vendors, including obtaining and inspecting samples for quality and regulatory compliance.
Negotiate pricing, delivery terms, and service agreements with suppliers, in alignment with organizational procurement policies.
Collaborate with Operations, Health & Safety teams to ensure materials support operational and clinical needs.
Address and resolve non-conformance issues with suppliers; conduct site visits to assess vendor capabilities and resolve quality or delivery concerns.
Resolve discrepancies related to quantity, quality, or delivery issues with suppliers.
Support offshore procurement activities and manage international logistics where applicable.
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance procurement efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
Ensure timely follow-up on late orders and communicate supply risks to relevant stakeholders.
Adhere to safety protocols and corporate compliance guidelines.
Is this the right role for you?
Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
5+ years of experience in purchasing, inventory management, or supply chain operations.
Experience in a healthcare, institutional, or facility management setting preferred.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and make informed decisions.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a collaborative mindset.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
Highly organized with strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
Occasional travel may be required for vendor audits, site visits, or industry events.
Experience with D365 systems and CMMS platforms.
Familiarity with healthcare procurement standards and infection control requirements is an asset
Knowledge of global sourcing and international logistics.
Understanding of Canadian healthcare regulations and standards (e.g., CSA Z317 series) is an asset
Demonstrated ability to negotiate pricing and terms with vendors.
Proactive problem-solving and continuous improvement mindset.
Certification in supply chain or procurement (e.g., CPSM, CPP, SCMP) is a plus.
