Vale\xe2\x80\x99s North Atlantic mines are technically challenging due to depth of mining, projected expansion, and varying age of infrastructure. Ventilation systems are recognized as a critical control for the safety of all personnel working underground. This team provides ventilation design and technical support to all of our mines and mining projects in Canada. The OpportunityThe role is integral in the creation of Life of Mine Plans (LoMP) by providing ventilation designs that adhere to Vale\xe2\x80\x99s standards, guidelines, and best practices. The Engineer - Ventilation will leverage the latest technology to optimize new and existing systems. Working closely with LR Mine Design, Mine Operations, Mine Planning, Ground Control, and Base Metals Projects, the incumbent will be expected to develop, modify, and maintain mine ventilation models to reflect staged mine ventilation designs. Use of mine design software will be necessary to extract relevant mine design information. Site visits and field measurements will be required to validate and calibrate models. The role will also offer opportunities related to mechanical and aerodynamic technologies applicable for industrial fans and systems such as sizing, specification review, commissioning/startup assistance, and performance measurement.Major Accountabilities
