We invite you to be part of our evolution.The OpportunityWe are currently seeking a Specialist Engineer, Electrical to join our team Department in Sudbury, Ontario. This is a permanent, position.The position will report to the Manager, Energy (North Atlantic) and is recognized as an electrical subject matter expert and will provide technical advice to the Energy Department. The Sr. Engineer, Electrical will communicate regularly with the operations and project teams both internally and externally on strategies to ensure that goals and priorities are clearly understood. The Specialist Engineer, Electrical will also be responsible for the following:Key Responsibilities:

  • Applies expertise to resolve crucial issues and/or unique conditions
  • Perform engineering studies and/or calculations, including: short circuit analysis, load flows, arc flash hazard assessments, protective device coordination, equipment selection & sizing, protection relay settings,
  • Develop equipment testing and commissioning plans, witness and approve equipment FAT, SAT testing
  • Lead the development of technical guidelines, processes, standards and routines
  • Anticipate and propose solutions to current/potential infrastructure risks
  • Participate in Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), for Hydro Generating station and high voltage substations.
  • Assist and participate in in project scoping, maturity assessment and review of all operational and capital projects and assess impact of energy consumption requirement in power system study .
About YouEducation:
  • Bachelor of Electrical Engineering degree required
  • Masters of engineering or higher preferred
Experience:
  • 8-10 years of similar experience in an industrial industry
Skills:
  • Strong understanding of hydro generating stations and high voltage substations
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to be thorough with strong attention to detail
  • Strong leadership and mentorships skills
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively
  • Accountable for achieving Zero Harm
