The Opportunity

We are currently seeking a Specialist Engineer, Project to join our North Atlantic Projects team in Sudbury. This is a permanent position.

The Specialist Engineer, Project is accountable for the safety, budget, scope, schedule and quality on a project or multiple projects. The role will have the authority to make decisions within the predefined scope, cost and schedule targets. This role will also be responsible for delivering projects within scope, cost and schedule baseline, while ensuring the projects are delivered within the safety and quality objectives agreed for the project.

Additionally, in this position you will:

• Communicate regularly with the Project team both internally and externally on strategies to ensure that goals and priorities are clearly understood.
• Manage, co-ordinate and monitor studies and contractors within your responsible area to ensure project requirements are achieved, including all internal governance processes.
• Manage assigned contract packages to ensure timely submission of deliverables and approval of contract changes
• Manages and coordinates the outputs of their assigned project team or teams in line with the detailed scope, cost, and schedule control baselines and manages any project changes in terms of this agreed baseline.
• Mitigates project delays by coordinating the different functions and establishing priorities.

About You
Education:

• Undergraduate degree required.
• Professional designation as P.Eng required
• Project Management Professional (PMP) certification considered an asset

Experience:

• 8-10 years of project engineer experience.

Skills:

• Unwavering commitment to safety
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Strong understanding of underground and surface equipment requirements to support mine development and production operations
• Ability to be creative to promote new ways of doing things
• Ability to evaluate alternative options and recommend preferred solutions
• Experience with pre-feasibility and feasibility studies
