As a Specialist, Digital Giving at the BC SPCA you\'ll be joining one of the most innovative and successful fundraising teams in Canada. The BC SPCA is funded by compassionate animal lovers who helped us assist nearly 119,000 animals last year. Your work will help make this all possible. As the Specialist, Digital Giving you will provide strategic and technical expertise to the Digital Giving team to continue to position the BC SPCA at the forefront of digital fundraising.

The role of Specialist, Digital Giving

  • As part of the Digital Giving team, you\'ll provide leadership in the implementation of best practices around the acquisition and retention of digital donors and the identification and assessment of new digital fundraising opportunities.
  • As a subject matter expert, you\'ll provide guidance to the team and the BC SPCA as a whole (as requested) in the areas of:
  • Email marketing
  • Digital marketing & donor stewardship
  • Donation form optimization
  • Digital lead generation
  • Organizational digital strategy
  • You are also responsible for working with the Senior Officers, Digital Giving to
  • Incorporate new opportunities and practices into the day-to-day operations of the team
  • Collaborate to ensure the optimized roll-out of end of year fundraising and high potential appeals (emergency fundraising, breaking news stories, etc.)
  • Serve as a back up to the Senior Officers on the execution of critical fundraising campaigns
  • You\'ll be collaborating with colleagues in Revenue Development to ensure optimal data integration across platforms and the Communications department on organizational digital strategy and social media fundraising and optimization.
  • You are expected to utilize appropriate measures and metrics to evaluate the success of digital fundraising across campaigns and to provide regular reporting and analysis.
  • You are supported and encouraged to develop and maintain relationships with industry peers and maintain a commitment to continued education, learning and innovation.
While every day is different, a day in this role might include:
  • Checking the conversion and completion rates on an ongoing donation form test. Deciding whether to implement changes based on the results. Connecting with the rest of the Digital Giving team to share findings and ensure relevant learning are applied to all campaigns.
  • Reviewing performance and updating the content on ad sets for a trial campaign you are running on a new social media platform in order to assess its suitability as a revenue generating avenue for the Society.
  • Meeting with the Senior Officer, Digital Giving to discuss strategy for a fundraising campaign around a breaking news story of 30 cats brought into BC SPCA care. Ensuring all avenues for fundraising are optimized and collaborating on compelling donor-centric copy for the appeal.

What skills have you developed?
  • University degree in relevant discipline plus a minimum of 8 years\' experience in digital fundraising or an equivalent combination of education and experience acceptable to the employer.
  • You possess an understanding of big picture fundraising and how digital fits in.
  • You have proven experience innovating in the areas of email marketing, social, website and donation form optimization, and Search Engine Optimization.
  • Working with data is an essential and everyday part of your work, establishing data points, ensuring accurate record keeping and conducting thorough analysis.
  • You have a demonstrated capacity to strategically guide and mentor fellow staff.
  • When you see a problem or an opportunity to make something better you bring forward solutions.
  • You are a clear and persuasive communicator, both written and oral, including an ability to relate respectfully to a diverse audience.
  • You know when something is your responsibility and when you need to escalate something. If you don\'t know, you\'ll ask for help.
  • Extensive experience using CRM and CMS programs and an openness to learning new platforms (we use Raiser\'s Edge and Luminate Online).
  • Experience working with e-commerce platforms is an asset.
  • You have experience using a graphic design program and are open to learning others (we use Adobe and Canva).
  • You are proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Basic HTML editing an asset.

The BC SPCA compensation structure is based on external benchmarks and regularly reviewed. Starting placement on the range for this position will be commensurate with the successful candidate\'s experience.
