Special Education Teacher

Job Description

Plan and support student's education in 1:4 or 1:7 classroom ratio using a developmental framework (K-8 Ontario curriculum)
Develop and monitor student Individual Education Plan
Monitor, evaluate and report on student progress
Conduct student assessments
Prepare developmentally appropriate teaching and learning resources
Collaborate with clinical team (OT, SLP, PT, BCBA)
Participate in external events/services (gymnastics, swimming, volunteer work)
Meet with families regarding student progress and continuing goal areas
Participate in ongoing professional development, school events and initiatives

Required Qualifications:



License to teach in Ontario, OCT or CYW with relevant experience
2+ years teaching experience (including ASD)
Strong communication skills, both oral and written
Able to work both independently and collaboratively as a member of the team
Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to relate well to children and families
DIR certification is considered an asset
CPI/UMAB certification is considered an asset

Job Type: Full-time

Schedule:

8 hour shift
Ability to commute/relocate:

Mississauga, ON L5N 2M9: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
Education:

Bachelor's Degree (preferred)
Experience:

teaching: 1 year (preferred)
Work Location: In person
