We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Special Education Teacher to join our Home Education Team. Our two children, aged 7 and 10, have additional learning needs (Level 1 ASD (PDA), ADHD, Anxiety). Their learning needs are currently best met outside of a conventional classroom. As a Teacher, you will design and implement engaging lessons plans. Our Home Education Team includes a Behavioural Support Teaching Assistant who will help you support the children throughout the day.
This role is based out of our private residence and includes time spent throughout the community in locations such as libraries, museums, recreation centres and parks. In addition, we work with a Home Education Board that has a physical campus nearby and learning community with other homeschoolers. Our children are very active and enjoy the outdoors. They play musical instruments. There is a dog and a cat at the home.
This role is fulltime. The annual schedule is negotiable and will reflect the best fit for the successful candidate. Pay will be competitive with Teacher Salary Grids in Calgary.
Responsibilities
Develop and implement engaging daily/weekly/monthly schedules and lesson plans that adhere to each child's Learning Plan (2025/26 monthly schedules are complete).
Develop annual Learning Plans (2025/26 Learning Plans are complete).
Create a positive and inclusive learning environment for students.
Assess student progress and provide feedback on their academic performance.
Communicate effectively with parents/Home Education Team.
Utilize various teaching methods to accommodate different learning styles.
Conduct the "classroom" in the home, community (including our Home Education Board's physical campus), and outdoors.
Liaise with Home Education Board.
Transport children to offsite locations.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Education or relevant field.
Additional training to support Special Education.
Teaching certification.
Working experience with students with ASD and ADHD.
Knowledge of PDA and neurodivergent-affirming practices.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to inspire and motivate students.
Knowledge of educational technology tools and platforms.
Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
Comfort in the outdoors in all seasons.
Recent cleared Police Information Check (PIC) with a Vulnerable Sector Search

Pay: $60,000.00-$110,000.00 per year
