The Team
Scotiabank’s Global Operations Technology team (GOT) is changing the way we discover, design, deliver about technology deployment and how we run and maintain a technology portfolio which includes mission critical applications across our Global business operations, Contact Centre, Collections, Fraud areas across the global landscape of the bank that help differentiate us in a highly competitive environment.
The Role
The Global Operations Technology team is growing rapidly and is looking for a talented Solutions Architect who can help us transform the operations technology stack on a global basis. As a Solutions Architect supporting global business operation, you will engineer and design the most complex enterprise operational applications, including CRM, Content Management, Reporting tools, DevOps. You are the thought leader who understands business impacts of technology decisions and can easily explain to both technical and non-technical stakeholders the importance of technology and the value that can bring to the business. You will help drive exciting new initiatives, own the solutions architecture that can not only help re-platform old technologies to improve performance and resiliency, but also enable digital transformation, advance business priorities and ultimately deliver superb customers’ experience. You will work autonomously as well as have significant interaction with senior business and technology leadership, consequently effective communications commensurate with the audience and the ability to promote an idea and gain consensus are critical. Some of the Key Accountabilities include:

  • Provide thought leadership, subject matter expertise to business and technology leaders on operation (Enterprise shared services) transformation.
  • Design architectural solutions, roadmaps that are aligned to Enterprise Standards and best practices.
  • Assess and analyze business strategy & requirements, the current technical environment and technology options to evaluate solution alternatives that meet business needs and bank strategy.
  • Lead architectural design discussions.
  • Work on breaking-down, scoping and estimating tasks.
  • Participate in planning and review sessions.
  • Collaborate with multiple teams Bank wide on architecture design and follow Bank’s Architecture Review Board governance process.
  • Present solution design in a way that establishes trust relationships, persuades stakeholders and achieves understanding and consensus at all levels.
  • Maintain a sharp focus on system reliability and ensure overall solution architecture can gracefully handle upstream and downstream system failures.

What You Will Bring to Succeed
  • 7+ years of software engineering industry experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in solutions architecture, preferably on designing and delivering large scale enterprise solutions
  • 3+ years of banking experience
  • 3+ years of cloud solution experience
  • Spanish is a plus
  • Experience in architecture design processes, creating reference architectures and architecture artifacts that guide design decisions related to applications, data, integration and infrastructure.
  • Experience with CRM technology such as PEGA or any ERP technologies
  • Experience with technology whole stack
  • Hands-on experience in the system analysis, design, architecture of complex, multi-tier development & production environments involving:
    • Microservices design
    • Event driven architecture
    • ETL and data solutions
    • Domain driven design techniques
    • Cloud platforms deployment
    • System resiliency engineering
    • Agile practices applied to a product team
  • Ability to collaborate across organizational boundaries, build relationships, and achieve broader organizational goals.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and influencing skills with the ability to build and foster relationships with business partners, project stakeholders, strategic technology partners and external vendors.
  • Bachelor (equivalent or higher) degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related discipline.
