We are looking for full stack software engineering and technology visionaries to join the Cisco DNA Center SD-Access team. This includes building highly reliable and scalable services, and designing innovative technical solutions.
As we build the new network, we need you to bring your new ideas and enthusiasm to jump into opportunities, transforming industries as they emerge and grow. You will collaborate with a creative team to take on some of the toughest challenges in the tech world.

We are seeking an experienced Software Engineer that is passionate about building user experience and driving product experience across the product. This position is full-time and is based in our Ottawa office.


WHO YOU ARE


Responsibilities:

  • Be part of a team of engineers involved in the development and testing of software for our Cisco DNA Center SD-Access product.
  • Collaborate with Product Designers, Product Managers, and Software Engineers to deliver compelling user-facing products.
  • Identify and resolve performance and scalability issues.
  • Design & develop large portions of software independently and rapidly.
  • Operate in an Agile methodology with an eye toward robust and principled software development.
  • Strong ability and desire to learn new tools as required is an absolute must.



MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A Computer Science/Engineering Bachelors degree with 5+ years, or Masters with 3+ years of related experience.
  • Software development experience in Java, SpringBoot or other modern programming languages / frameworks.
  • Expertise in React would be an asset.
  • Strong understanding of OOA & D, design patterns and SOA architectures and horizontal scalability tenets.
  • Experience in or passion for building a PaaS solution using Kubernetes, Docker, etc.
  • Experience in use of standard SCM tools (Git) and CI/CD (Jenkins / Maven, etc) process.
  • Strong motivation to innovate and improve customer and product experience.
  • Strong problem solving and software development /troubleshooting skills. Ability to "think in code" and discuss ideas and algorithms is a must.
  • Follows development best practices like TDD, code reviews and owns automated tests to ensure quality.
  • Past experience working in an Agile / Scrum environment.

When available, the salary range posted for this position reflects the projected hiring range for new hire, full-time salaries in U.S. locations, not including equity or benefits. For non-sales roles the hiring ranges reflect base salary only; employees are also eligible to receive annual bonuses. Hiring ranges for sales positions include base and incentive compensation target. Individual pay is determined by the candidate\'s hiring location and additional factors, including but not limited to skillset, experience, and relevant education, certifications, or training. U.S. employees have access to quality medical, dental and vision insurance, a 401(k) plan with a Cisco matching contribution, short and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance and numerous wellbeing offerings. Employees receive up to twelve paid holidays per calendar year, which includes one floating holiday, plus a day off for their birthday. Employees accrue up to 20 days of Paid Time Off (PTO) each year and have access to paid time away to deal with critical or emergency issues without tapping into their PTO. Employees on sales plans earn performance-based incentive pay on top of their base salary, which is split between quota and non-quota components. For quota-based incentive pay, Cisco pays at the standard rate of 1% of incentive target for each 1% revenue attainment against the quota up to 100%. Once performance exceeds 100% quota attainment, incentive rates may increase up to five times the standard rate with no cap on incentive compensation. For non-quota-based sales performance elements such as strategic sales objectives, Cisco may pay up to 125% of target. Cisco sales plans do not have a minimum threshold of performance for sales incentive compensation to be paid.
