Internship Duration: September 2025 - August 2026 or December 2026 (12 or 16months)
We are looking for a Software Analyst - Intern to join us for an 12- or 16-month internship at our North York office.
As a member of the Vital Software Engineering team supporting Hitachi Rail Canada, the intern will work under the guidance of a senior software engineer to analyze, develop software, automate processes, and perform testing within the infrastructure available in our organization.

Key Responsibilities:Understand and adhere to the company's processes and procedures for developing vital software for safety-critical railway systems. Assist with software development and algorithm implementation for safety-critical systems. Develop software tools and scripts to enhance the current CI/CD (Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment) process by migrating existing solutions to the generic GTS CI/CD pipeline. Create tests based on the Smart Testing Platform (using Python, C, Wiki, Gherkin) within the CI/CD framework for safety-critical software based on software requirements. Document software solutions using Wiki. Develop metrics and dashboards to report progress to management.

Required Skills and Experience:The successful candidate should be working towards a bachelor's or master's degree in Computer/Systems Engineering, Computer science or a related field from an accredited university or college. Strong interpersonal skills and fluency in English (written and verbal). In-depth knowledge and experience in software development. Proficient in Python, C++/C, shell scripting, JSON, and Groovy. Experience with DevOps software environments, including Git, Bitbucket, Jira, Jenkins, Artifactory. Strong organizational abilities. Capable of quickly integrating with the team and working independently. The ability to work 40 hours per week in a hybrid environment is essential. The first month of the internship will be fully on-site, followed by a hybrid model requiring at least 2 or 3 days per week in the office starting in the second month.

Preferred Qualifications:Co-op student available for an 12- or 16-month term, with at least one additional quarter or semester of coursework remaining after the completion of the internship. Relevant work experience is preferred; academic projects will also be considered.
