We are looking for a Software Analyst to join our team in Burnaby
The successful candidate will perform design, analysis, programming, debug, and integration activities in the development of software for train control systems, achieving Customer Satisfaction of the delivered solution/product.
Key ResponsibilitiesUnderstands and follows the company's processes and procedures for developing mission critical software Implements near real time systems in C++ o Designs, codes, debugs, write test procedures and tests software code. Reviews code, test procedures and test results Analyses and implements correction for defect reports o Perform engineering testing and investigate problems in the lab or field. Contributes in co-engineering activities with the Systems Engineering team in order to ensure system-software consistency and the right refinement of software components and compliance with the vehicle architecture Solves tasks in the best technical and timely manner. Looks for opportunities and makes suggestions for improvements. Provides some input for cost estimates

Required Skills and ExperienceMinimum 1 year of relevant work experience or equivalent; relevant academic projects will be considered. B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or an equivalent field. Good command of C++ language including templates, STL, Boost, MFC usage Good command of C#, WPF Good command of scripting languages, i.e. Perl, Ruby, Python, Groovy Knowledge of object-oriented techniques, multithreading, socket programming, Windows Knowledge of software tools (gmake, MSBuild, Maven, Git, Jira) and continuous integration (Jenkins) Knowledge of web development (Typescript, WebSockets, Stencil, PixiJS, npm) Analysis skills; able to diagnose issues based on field logs and correlate events to failures Working knowledge of modern software engineering practices, methods & tools (Visual Studio, Jira, Git) Able to handle assignments within a large scale software application Strong technical writing & communication skills

Preferred Skills and ExperienceOptional: Professional Engineer (PENG) Experience in development of software in C++, C# is an asset. Experience in using scripting languages such as Perl, Python or Ruby is an asset Experienced in applying object-oriented programming techniques and design patterns in an existing code base, multithreading, socket programming, General Windows Programming Familiar with software building tools like gmake, MSBuild
