Single Session Walk-In Clinics
The provision of Single Session Walk-In Clinics is identified as one component of a range of services to be offered in all four regional health authorities in the province in Towards Recovery: The Mental Health and Addictions Action Plan for Newfoundland and Labrador. New positions are being provided in each regional health authority to support implementation of this service province wide.
Job Summary
The Social Worker provides single-session therapy using a broad range of single-session, brief intervention and postmodern theoretical frameworks and conducts professional analysis of complex situations. This position exercises a significant degree of independent clinical judgment in developing take away treatment plans for individuals. The Social Worker will also be expected to provide field instruction for Social Work students. This position is involved in the delivery of a range of mental health & addictions services primarily focusing on the offering of single session counselling to individuals, couples and /or families, age 12 and up via in person, telephone or virtual sessions. This position may also be required to offer TAO (therapist assisted online) sessions. Flexible hours are required.
This position reports to the Mental Health & Addictions Program Manager responsible for the service and maintains accountability to the Professional Practice Consultant for Social Work for integrity and professional practice issues.

Regularly sits to consult with clients, conduct therapeutic sessions, and to work on the computer.
Occasionally works in awkward or cramped body positions; pushes, pulls, and sets up furniture for group work, and drives to conduct home visits with clients.
Regularly uses fine finger/precision work on a computer.
Job Qualifications
Graduation with a Clinical or Integrated Master\'s degree in Social Work from an accredited program with the MSW field placement in a clinical practice is required.
Current and continuing registration with the Newfoundland and Labrador College of Social Workers (NLCSW) is required.
Minimum of five years\' of experience within the last seven working as a Social Worker in a mental health and addictions program is required.
Experience with individuals, couples, family and group therapy is required.
Experience in brief therapy modalities is an asset.
ASIST training is an asset.
Knowledge of relevant legislation, including but not limited to, Mental Health Care and Treatment Act, Adult Protection Act, Advanced Health Care Directives Act, Medical Assistance in Dying, and the Children, Youth and Families Act.
Knowledge of community resources in the areas of mental health and addictions.
Knowledge of crisis interventions and supportive counseling.
Knowledge of case management.
Demonstrated strong clinical leadership skills.
Demonstrated ability to direct, supervise and mentor students.
Exhibited strong program development and evaluation skills.
Demonstrated proven analytical, critical thinking, problem solving, decision-making and organizational and research skills.
Exhibited strong written and oral communication skills as well as the ability to deliver/facilitate effective presentations.
Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
Demonstrated ability to write proposals, develop and evaluate clinical projects.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively within an interprofessional environment and provide clinical consultation.
Demonstrated ability to work autonomously, prioritizing caseloads and patient needs.
