Your Opportunity:

Reporting to the manager, Forensic Assessment & Outpatient Service the incumbent will carry out advanced professional duties as assigned including clinical assessment, treatment and counseling of legally mandated Adults within the Calgary Zone. The primary patient/client population this position serves is one with complex Forensic and Mental Health Issues including domestic violence offences and other forensic issues identified among others. All clients are involved with the legal system and have been mandated to attend the service for assessment &/or treatment purposes. Working effectively within an interdisciplinary team the incumbent provides psychosocial interventions in an individual & group format, working with couples &/or families as appropriate to establish and sustain effective treatment strategies for the offender. The Social Worker III - Forensic Assessment Outpatient Service will foster and maintain liaisons with outside justice agencies and professionals for the benefit of the clients and program, and will perform all duties with a high degree of independence and in accordance with program and professional standards.

Description:

As a Social Worker III, you will perform either advanced level assessment and treatment or act as a clinical lead. You will work with or within teams to provide health care services for patients with complex and multidimensional medical, psychosocial, environmental and instrumental needs. You will provide advanced clinical services, consultation to the interprofessional team and patients/families and supervision of students and team members as assigned. You may also act as a clinical lead providing leadership in the planning, development, and delivery of services in a specific area, as well as staff development, quality improvement and evaluation or research activities as identified by the needs of the service area(s).

Required Qualifications:

Master\'s degree in Social Work. Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Social Workers (ACSW). Additional Required Qualifications:

Minimum 3 years\' experience in the mental health field required. Minimum 2 years working within a community mental health program required. Experience working with a Forensic mental health population. Active working knowledge of current Mental Health legislation. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Strong interpersonal skills & interviewing techniques. Domestic Violence Group therapy skills. In-depth knowledge of mental health/mental illness. Training in CBT, DBT, Group Psychotherapy, Family therapy &/or other endorsed forms of therapy is required. Non-Violent Crisis Intervention training. Preferred Qualifications:

Recent community mental health experience working with Forensic populations preferred. Active working knowledge of Criminal Justice Systems preferred. Couples & Family therapy an asset. Recent use and understanding of domestic / general violence risk measurement tools preferred.
