About the Role
The West Kelowna Warriors, a Junior A Hockey team in the BCHL, are seeking to hire a Marketing Director. This individual will be responsible for all digital and non-digital marketing functions of the Junior A team and the Okanagan Hockey Club, including social media campaigns, creative content generation, and community marketing programs. In addition, the role offers a unique opportunity to grow and manage a merchandise business. You will work with a small team and be responsible for executing a marketing strategy that promotes our brands and sponsors through active engagement of our fan base and community. The business team you will be joining is charged with driving ticket sales, sponsorships, and development revenue, while creating a positive impact on our community. The Social Media Marketing Director will play a vital role in this effort, connecting the organization with its fans, media, and community. There will be regular interaction with our Hockey Club and Academy teams to generate compelling content. The role will require non-standard hours including evenings and weekends.
Key Responsibilities
Create a comprehensive marketing plan.
Maintain and grow the West Kelowna Warriors and Okanagan HC website and social media properties.
Drive engagement with social media through compelling content.
Manage email marketing campaigns.
Utilize analytics to measure success.
Manage all aspects of communications and public relations.
Manage and direct all community outreach events, including school visits with the players.
Take full ownership of the Merchandise business, both online and in arena. This includes executing marketing through fulfillment.
What you Bring
College Graduate preferred. Degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing or related field a plus.
Strong understanding of social media platforms, content management systems, and analytical tools.
Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite as well as email marketing platforms.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Passion for sports media, with a strong understanding of hockey.
Passion for community involvement.
Willingness to work non-standard hours. Weekends and Evenings.
Canadian Citizen or Work Visa.
