Under the general supervision of the Director of Operations and under the direct supervision of the Cafe Manager, Cafe staff are responsible for serving Cafe guests, food preparation at the Cafe, cleanliness at Cafe, and some administrative duties in the YWCA kikaskihtanaw Center for Women and Families.
Responsibilities:
Maintain a high quality of both food and customer service with a commitment to fostering a supportive and engaging experience for team members and guests
Greet customers and take food and beverage orders
Prepare meals as ordered to customer specifications
Ensure quality control of food production
Monitor food production and service standards. Fastidious attention to food preparation and presentation
Prioritize food preparation and cooking tasks
Package takeout food
Operate and maintain kitchen equipment in a clean and sanitary manner
Operate dishwasher to wash dishes, glassware and flatware
Maintain kitchen in a clean, safe and sanitary condition at all times as well as perform daily kitchen cleaning tasks at shift close
Ensure that all food is received, stored and prepared according to company standards and in a food safe timeline
Replenish necessary supplies for smooth food service
Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations
Maintain highest standards of SHA Food Safe regulations
Qualifications:
Experience working in a commercial kitchen is an asset
Food service and food safe handling experience
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to ensure seamless service
Strong background and experience in customer service and sales
Knowledge of various cooking methods, procedures and food preparation techniques and the flexibility to adapt as required
Ensure proper food handling, sanitation and follow food storage procedures according to set standards
Prioritizing tasks and efficiently managing time during peak service periods
Stamina to be standing extended periods of time as well as bending
Lift up to fifty pounds
Current Food Safe Certificate
Must be able to provide a criminal record check
