About the Role



Snowmaking Operators are essential to creating and maintaining the high-quality snow surfaces that make Nitehawk a premier winter destination. Working in a fast-paced, outdoor environment, this role involves operating specialized equipment, monitoring weather conditions, and producing consistent snow for safe and enjoyable skiing, snowboarding, and tubing experiences.

The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, physically fit, and thrives in outdoor work, even in extreme cold. This position requires flexibility, teamwork, and a strong commitment to safety.

Key Responsibilities



Produce consistent, high-quality snow using air/water snowmaking systems.

Work variable shifts ranging from 8.5 to 12 hours; snowmaking is a 24/7 operation, weather-dependent.

Assist with other operational tasks such as signage and fencing installation, snow clearing, and light maintenance.

Operate and monitor electrical, pressurized air, and water equipment.

Safely operate motorized equipment on and off the slopes (e.g., ATVs, utility vehicles, snowmobiles).

Support other departments, including Grooming, Ski Patrol, Lift Operations, and Special Events.

Conduct basic equipment inspections and report issues promptly.

Follow all health, safety, and mountain regulations at all times.

What We're Looking For



Strong teamwork skills with the ability to also work independently.

Physically fit and able to perform demanding outdoor tasks, including walking up and down steep slopes.

Comfortable working in all weather conditions, from mild to extreme cold.

Good mechanical aptitude; ability to troubleshoot and perform minor repairs.

Strong awareness of safety practices and risk management.

Valid driver's license with a clean driving abstract (required).

Previous snowmaking experience (asset).

Experience operating snowmobiles, ATVs, or snowcats (asset).

Knowledge of mountain terrain and ski hill operations (asset).

Previous outdoor, labour-intensive, or mechanical work experience is considered an advantage.
