Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Snow Plow Operator to efficiently clear snow and ice from designated roadways, parking lots, and pathways during winter months. The ideal candidate will have experience operating snow removal equipment and possess a strong understanding of safety protocols. This role is essential for maintaining safe and accessible environments during inclement weather conditions, ensuring the safety of the public and property. This specific job is to operate a Whacker Sidewalk Machine at Halifax Shopping Centre.

Responsibilities

Operate snow plow trucks and related machinery to remove snow and ice from roads, parking lots, sidewalks, and walkways Perform routine inspections and maintenance on plow equipment to ensure optimal functioning Apply salt or other de-icing materials as needed to prevent ice formation Monitor weather conditions to anticipate snow removal needs and respond promptly Ensure all work areas are cleared efficiently while adhering to safety standards Communicate effectively with team members regarding work progress and any equipment issues Maintain accurate records of work completed and materials used during snow removal operations

Requirements

Proven experience operating snow plow trucks or similar heavy machinery such as excavators or power tools Mechanical knowledge related to maintenance and troubleshooting of plowing equipment Familiarity with landscaping, irrigation, gardening, horticulture, or landscape maintenance is a plus but not required Ability to work in cold weather conditions for extended periods during snow events Strong understanding of safety procedures related to construction, maintenance, and mechanical operations Ability to use hand tools and power tools safely and effectively Valid driver's license with a clean driving record is preferred Physical stamina to perform manual tasks including lifting, shoveling, or clearing debris as needed
This position plays a vital role in ensuring safe passage during winter storms by maintaining clear roads and pathways. The ideal candidate will be dependable, safety-conscious, and ready to respond quickly to winter weather challenges.

Job Type: Seasonal
Contract length: 6 months

Pay: $20.00-$40.00 per hour
