JOB OVERVIEW
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Aviation Safety Management System (SMS) Coordinator to join our team. The primary purpose of this role is to develop, implement, and coordinate our organization's safety program, ensuring strict compliance with all applicable aviation safety regulations (e.g., Transport Canada, CARs ICAO). You will be instrumental in fostering a strong safety culture, managing safety data, and supporting incident investigations to ensure the safe and efficient operation of our aviation services.
Responsibilities:Develop and implement program quality plans, programs, and procedures using statistical quality control statistics, lean manufacturing concepts, and six-sigma tools and analyses
Ensures that performance and quality products conform to established company and regulatory standards
Reviews, analyzes and reports on quality discrepancies related to assembly, process, mechanical, electrical and electro-mechanical systems
Investigates problems and develops disposition and corrective actions for recurring discrepancies
Interfaces with manufacturing, engineering, customer, vendor, repair center and subcontractor representatives to ensure requirements are met
Recommends corrective actions, dispositions and modifications.
SMS Management: Assist in the ongoing management, implementation, and continuous improvement of the Safety Management System (SMS), policies, and procedures.
Hazard & Risk Management: Coordinate hazard identification processes, conduct thorough risk assessments and analyses, and develop mitigation strategies to reduce identified risks to acceptable levels.
Monitor and analyze trends in hazards, occurrences, and customer escapes.
Monitor and evaluate the results of corrective actions with respect to hazards, occurrences, and customer escapes
Monitor the concerns of the Civil Aviation Industry in respect of safety and their perceived effect on the air operator, as applicable to an MRO.
Report to the Quality Manager and/or the PRM the hazards, incidents and accidents identified under the SMS or as a result of an audit.
Training & Promotion: Coordinate and deliver initial and recurrent SMS, safety, and human factors training for staff, tenants, and contractors. Proactively promote a positive safety culture and an open reporting environment.
Any other related duties assigned.
Qualifications:Candidate must be bilingual (French and English)
Must have 3- 5 years Quality Assurance Environment experience
Minimum of 3 years of technical engine maintenance experience
Experience working in aerospace
Recognized academic Quality Assurance training or equivalent
In this function the candidate must be open-minded to address Culture Change, listen and share best practices within the Safety Culture mind
Abilities to support shop floor employees and other support groups with QA and regulatory related issues
Knowledge of performing investigation in a Quality Assurance environment.
Attention to detail in all areas of work.
