Skilled4Sucess is a 10 week program that provides youth that are facing barriers to employment the opportunity to develop new employment skills through training, paid work experience in our Bgc Okanagan programs, job readiness supports, job shadowing and mentorship.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the development, implementation and evaluation of youth engagement programming including, but not limited to peer support, volunteering, leadership within the club, implementation and facilitation of programming in-person and virtually, modeling positive participation, skill development, feedback and advocacy.
  • Supervise and interact with youth in a positive and supportive manner to ensure a safe and supportive environment for youth.
  • Ensures that equipment and the facility are clean, well-maintained, and safe at all times.
  • Prepares nutritious snacks and meals for members.
  • Encourage independence, choices, decision-making and problem solving in youth.
  • Foster growth of self-esteem and self-concept in an environment that is welcoming and supportive.
  • Builds relationships with the children and youth within their designated programs.
  • Provides group and/or individual behavior management and support.
Understand and adhere to Agency policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
  • Be between the ages of 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment.
  • Experiencing barriers finding or keeping employment.
  • Be a Canadian citizen, a permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act.
  • Have a valid social insurance number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial and territorial legislation and regulations. Successful completion of Agency screening process, including criminal record check

Hours: 20 hours a week for 10-weeks after start date, on-site experience & employment training

Rate of Pay: $16.75 per hour
